Low drive voltage electro-optic Bragg deflector using a periodically poled lithium niobate planar waveguide
2016
International audience; An electro-optic Bragg light deflector is demonstrated in a thinned, periodically poled lithium niobate planar waveguide confined between two silica layers on a silicon substrate. More than 97% of diffraction efficiency is obtained with an operating wavelength of 633 nm for the two orthogonal light polarizations with a drive voltage of about 5 V. The temporal electric drift and the response time of the component are also studied.
Thermodiffusion anisotropy under a magnetic field in ionic liquid-based ferrofluids
2021
International audience; Ferrofluids based on maghemite nanoparticles (NPs), typically 10 nm in diameter, are dispersed in an ionic liquid (1-ethyl 3-methylimidazolium bistriflimide - EMIM-TFSI). The average interparticle interaction is found to be repulsive by small angle scattering of X-rays and of neutrons, with a second virial coefficient A2 = 7.3. A moderately concentrated sample at Φ = 5.95 vol% is probed by forced Rayleigh scattering under an applied magnetic field (up to H = 100 kA m-1) from room temperature up to T = 460 K. Irrespective of the values of H and T, the NPs in this study are always found to migrate towards the cold region. The in-field anisotropy of the mass diffusion c…
Comparative effect of inorganic N on plant growth and N2 fixation of ten legume crops
2018
International audience; [pas de résumé]
Quantification of nitrogen fluxes and explanatory plant traits during a two year legume-cereal rotation
2018
National audience; A better understanding of how plant growth, N nutrition and symbiotic nitrogen fixation (SNF) are influenced by soil inorganic N availability, for a wide range of legume species, is crucial to optimise legume productivity, N2 fixation, while limiting environmental risks such as N leaching. A comparative analysis was performed for ten legume crops, grown in a field experiment and supplied with four levels of N fertiliser. Dry matter, N concentration and SNF were measured. Parallely, root traits were studied in a greenhouse experiment. For most species, inorganic N inputs had little effect on plant growth and N nutrition. SNF was negatively affected by soil inorganic N avai…
New perspectives and approaches in plant growth-promoting rhizobacteria research
2007
International audience; In the context of increasing international concern for food and environmental quality, use of Plant Growth-Promoting Rhizobacteria (PGPR) for reducing chemical inputs in agriculture is a potentially important issue. PGPR are root-colonizing bacteria that exert beneficial effects on plant growth and development, but they can be also employed in the control of plant pathogens, for enhancing the efficiency of fertilizers, and for degrading xenobiotic compounds. This book provides an update by renowned international experts on the most recent advances in the ecology of these important bacteria, the application of innovative methodologies for their study, their interactio…
Comparaison de l’efficience de cinq souches de Rhizobium sur 18 génotypes de pois
2014
Legume-rhizobium association leads to the production of nodules on plant roots, in which atmospheric nitrogen is caught by the bacteria and exchanged for plant carbohydrates. This symbiotic association is probably the best way to increase nitrogen fertilization without using biological or chemical input. Symbiosis mechanisms between both species are thus a challenge for the current research. Previous studies have shown that rhizobia are not equally selected by the different pea genotypes. The objective of this study was to assess if peas select the most efficient bacterial strain. In order to answer this question, we sowed 18 pea genotypes and inoculated each of them with five different rhi…
Libération du sodium et des composés d'arôme dans des modèles fromagers aromatisés : influence de la structure et de la composition
2010
Authorities have called for salt content to be reduced in various food products. Cheese appears to be one of the most targeted products. In order to understand how to reduce salt content in model cheeses without modifying salty perception, the interactions between in-mouth sodium release and cheese composition and structure have to be studied. . The current study was conducted to determine how the release of aroma compounds and sodium ions could be modified by the structure and the composition of model cheese (lipid/protein ratio, sodium content ...). This will be done by in vivo and in vitro approaches. 23Na Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) spectroscopy was used to study the mobility and t…
Biotechnological applications of the sepiolite interactions with bacteria: Bacterial transformation and DNA extraction
2020
International audience; Among the various clay minerals, sepiolite, which is a natural nanofibrous silicate that exhibit a poor cell toxicity, is a potential promising nanocarrier for the non-viral and stable transfer of plasmid DNA into bacteria, mammalian and human cells. We first show here that sepiolite binds to bacteria, which can be useful in decontamination protocols. In a previous research we have shown that is possible to modulate the efficiency of the absorption of different types of DNA molecules onto sepiolite, and that the DNA previously adsorbed could be recovered preserving the DNA structure and biological activity. Taking advantage of both, the sepiolite/bacteria and sepioli…
Mesuring the economic efficiency of project related training : some evidence from agricultural bank projects
1984
référence interne : 84050; The paper discusses alternative ways of measuring the economic efficiency of project related training and proposes a model for an empirical evaluation. Data from fifty two agricultural projects have been used to analyse the relationship between the economic outcome of these projects and the amount ot training wich took place in them. The rsults show that there is a statistically significant positive link between the size of the training component and the economic success of the project, the rate of return on training espenditures is very high and there exists a strong complementarity between training and the adult literacy rate of the country is high. Sub-saharan …
