Energy efficient resource allocation in heterogeneous software defined network: A reverse combinatorial auction approach
2015
In this paper, resource allocation for energy effi- ciency in heterogeneous Software Defined Network (SDN) with multiple network service providers (NSPs) is studied. The considered problem is modeled as a reverse combinatorial auction game, which takes different quality of service (QoS) requirements into account. The heterogeneous network selection associated with power allocation problem is optimized by maximizing the energy efficiency of data transmission. By exploiting the properties of fractional programming, the resulting non-convex Winner Determination Problem (WDP) is transformed into an equivalent subtractive convex optimization problem. The proposed reverse combinatorial auction ga…
Latest Developments and Results of Radiation Tolerance CMOS Sensors with Small Collection Electrodes
2020
The development of radiation hard Depleted Monolithic Active Pixel Sensors (DMAPS) targets the replacement of hybrid pixel detectors to meet radiation hardness requirements of at least 1.5e16 1 MeV neq/cm2 for the HL-LHC and beyond. DMAPS were designed and tested in the TJ180 nm TowerJazz CMOS imaging technology with small electrodes pixel designs. This technology reduces costs and provides granularity of 36.4x36.4 um2 with low power operation (1 uW/pixel), low noise of ENC < 20 e-, a small collection electrode (3 um) and fast signal response within 25 ns bunch crossing. This contribution will present the latest developments after the MALTA and Mini-MALTA sensors. It will illustrate the imp…
Continuous models combining slacks-based measures of efficiency and super-efficiency
2022
AbstractIn the framework of data envelopment analysis (DEA), Tone (Eur J Oper Res 130(3):498–509, 2001) introduced the slacks-based measure (SBM) of efficiency, which is a nonradial model that incorporates all the slacks of the evaluated decision-making units (DMUs) into their efficiency scores, unlike classical radial efficiency models. Next, Tone (Eur J Oper Res 143(1):32–41, 2002) developed the SBM super-efficiency model in order to differentiate and rank efficient DMUs, whose SBM efficiency scores are always 1. However, as pointed out by Chen (Eur J Oper Res 226(2):258–267, 2013), some interpretation problems arise when the so-called super-efficiency projections are weakly efficient, le…
Nudge for justice : An ERP investigation of default effects on trade-offs between equity and efficiency
2020
Default options are an increasingly common tool used by organizations, managers, and policymakers to guide individuals’ behavior. We wondered whether the known preference for default options could constitute a nudge to achieve more equitable or more efficient results. Combining with event-related potentials, we found that both the default option and distributive justice contributed significantly to decision-making. The N200s and P300s were extracted using the tensor decomposition, which showed superiority in terms of capturing multi-domain features. The results demonstrated that greater brain activity associated with conflict monitoring was elicited in the trade-off between equity and effic…
Oltre la rigenerazione urbana. Per un futuro di lunga durata
2019
The proposal Casa-Bottega developed by Ml.NA research group gives the opportunity to explore the construction of a possible urban setting for the Rogoredo-Santa Giulia-Forlanini area. lt deals with a recurrent topic - the work-home - in the definition of design strate- gies for reusing and recoverying abandoned production compartments due to their level of obsolescence. The disposal of the industrial heritage of the last century generates large abandoned enclosures in the European cities. The so-called urban voids, in which architects have expressed themselves through refunctionalization projects by proposing a new functions. The identified solutions for the recovery of these areas link to …
Efektywność energetyczna budynków mieszkalnych, z uwzględnieniem akumulacji energii
2017
Evaluation of the efficiency of different harvesting methods of olives
2006
This paper reports the results of experimental tests carried out in Sicily about the harvesting of olives. Three varieties were selected (Biancolilla, Cerasuola and Nocellara del Belice); the tests were performed in three different periods with three different harvesting systems: manual, manual with pneumatic combs and mechanical harvesting. The aim of this study was to evaluate the work capacity and productivity of the three harvesting systems and the period maximising the mechanical harvesting efficiency. The damages caused to the trees after mechanical harvesting with a variable frequency shaker were also evaluated. Naturally fallen olives, Jean’s maturity index, detachment force, harves…
Undergraduate Students’ Acceptance of a Reciprocating One-File System for Endodontic Treatment
2020
Abstract Objectives Reciprocating endodontic one-file systems are a comparatively new method for root canal shaping. Even though the mechanical properties are comparable to modern rotating mechanical systems, data about subjective assessment and application quality are scarce. This study evaluates the reciprocating one-file system in undergraduate education. Materials and Methods A total of 42 undergraduate students without experience regarding reciprocating file systems filled in a questionnaire in four different points in time (t 1–t 4) anonymously. The questionnaire was based on a numerical rating scale ranging from 0 to 10. Statistical Analysis A least significant difference post-hoc an…
Predicting tire/pavement noise impact reduction using numerical simulation and experimental data for open graded asphalt mixture
2013
The environmental impact of noise from roads and highways traffic is relevant in urban and rural areas. The use of open-graded asphalt pavements reduces significantly the noise, entrapping the acoustic waves inside the porous structure of the material. In this paper we propose a simulation approach in order to predict the acoustic properties of the asphalt mixture from geometrical and topological indicators. In detail we have generated, using a Random Sequential Adsorption model, synthetic samples starting from the same grading and bitumen contents of real samples manufactured in laboratory. We have measured the acoustic adsorption coefficient of the real samples and we have investigated th…
Measurement of the soliton number in guiding media through continuum generation.
2020
No general approach is available yet to measure directly the ratio between chromatic dispersion and the nonlinear coefficient, and hence the soliton number for a given optical pulse, in an arbitrary guiding medium. Here we solve this problem using continuum generation. We experimentally demonstrate our method in polarization-maintaining and single-mode fibers with positive and negative chromatic dispersion. Our technique also offers new opportunities to determine the chromatic dispersion of guiding media over a broad spectral range while pumping at a fixed wavelength. (C) 2020 Optical Society of America
