In this study, we introduce new insights into prosodic analyses as an emerging method to study what happens in classrooms interactions. We claim that the prosodic aspects (features of speech such as intonation, volume and pace) of talk are important, but under-represented in the learning sciences. These prosodic aspects may be used to complement, intensify or even reverse the linguistic content of speech. This study examined upper secondary school students’ citations of self-selected online sources in their essays. Students (n = 140) conducted online inquiry about either effects of social media on people’s quality of life (SM) or allowance of genetic manipulation of organisms (GMO). Metsäteollisuuden deindustrialisaatio on aiheuttanut uudelleen rakenteistumista, mikä vaikuttaa pieniin asutuskeskuksiin jotka aiemmin ovat olleet riippuvaisia paperi- ja selluloosatehtaista. Pro gradu –työssäni olen kuvaillut ja analysoinut tapoja joilla Mänttä, pieni paperiteollisuuskaupunki, on selvinnyt suurista muutoksista. Mänttä on vastannut muutoksiin pyrkimällä investoimaan kulttuuriin ja taiteeseen. Mänttä pyrkii nykyään profiloitumaan ”taidekaupunkina”, sillä siellä järjestetään lukuisia taidenäyttelyitä ja kulttuuritapahtumia.
