Technology Architecture as a Driver for Business Cooperation: Case Study - Public Sector Cooperation in Finland

The current premise in the enterprise architecture (EA) literature is that business architecture defines all other EA architecture layers; information architecture, information systems architecture, and technology architecture. In this paper, we will study the ICT-cooperation between eight small and mid-sized municipalities and cities in Southern Finland. Our case demonstrates that the ICT-cooperation is possible without business cooperation and that ICT-cooperation can be a driver for future business cooperation. In this chapter, we explore co-creation as a form of societal interaction of science. We approach co-creation as a goal-oriented form of dynamic interaction aiming at mutual benefit of all parties. As such, we exclude technology transfer and other linear societal interaction forms that follow a closed-model innovation format. We argue that focusing solely on tapping the needs of researchers and ‘pure’ science would lead to ignoring the broader context in which researchers work. An excessive focus on meeting the needs of external stakeholders could jeopardize the preconditions of science. Hubotit - melkein ihmisiä (Äkta Människor, Ruotsi 2011-) tuo pohjoismaiseen televisiofiktioon tieteisfiktion tutut teemat kuten ihmisen ja koneen risteymät sekä kuolemattomuuden. Teknologisen kehityksen takana tieteisfiktiossa piilee usein, ellei jopa aina, kysymyksiä kehityksen vaikutuksesta ihmisyyteen.
