Development of a process for the treatment of synthetic wastewater without energy inputs using the salinity gradient of wastewaters and a reverse ele…
2019
Abstract Electrochemical processes are considered very effective methods for the treatment of wastewater contaminated by organics resistant to conventional biological processes and various inorganic pollutants. Large sites that treat wastewaters usually deal with a large number of waters often characterized by different salinity contents, that could be potentially used to provide the energy necessary for the electrochemical remediation. Hence, in this work a reverse electrodialysis (RED) process for the treatment of synthetic wastewaters contaminated by organics, without energy inputs, using the salinity gradient of different wastewaters, was studied, for the first time. It was found that t…

Dopamine (DA) is one of the most important neurotransmitters released from the brain, and is involved in many different biological processes. This neurotransmitter influences the processes that involve memory, sleep, mood, learning, and so on. Besides, in the last years, dopamine concentration in human body fluids has been related to some neurodegenerative pathologies, such as Parkinson and Alzheimer’s diseases [1]. It is well known that these pathologies are due to the formation of amyloids plaques that block part of the brain. Many literature data reports that DAergic neurons (areas of midbrain where DA is synthesized) shows a different activity when amyloid plaques are present with a con…

Electrochemical Fabrication of Inorganic/Organic Field Effect Transistor

After discovery of conducting polymers and the possibility to modify their electrical properties (from insulating to metallic-like behaviour) by doping and a careful choice of the processing conditions, a large amount of research effort has been devoted to the theoretical understanding of their solid state properties as well as to exploit the possible application of conducting polymers in many technological fields including: large area organic electronics, polymer photovoltaic cell and sensors (1-2). Organic thin-film transistors appears very promising for the development of low cost, flexible and disposable plastic electronics. In order to reduce the operating voltage it has been suggested…
