Degradation of Diazinon based on photoelectrocatalytic technique using enhanced WO3 nanostructures: Mechanism and pathway
2021
[EN] In this work, a resistant and toxic pesticide called diazinon was degraded through the photoelectrocatalysis (PEC) technique using tungsten oxide (WO3) nanostructures, applying an external bias of 1VAg/AgCl and simulated solar illumination. For this, WO3 nanostructures have been synthesized using electrochemical anodization in 0.05 M hydrogen peroxide and 1.5 M of different acidic electrolytes: H2SO4, CH4O3S or HNO3. Morphology, composition and crystallinity of the samples were evaluated through Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscopy (FE-SEM), Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM) and Raman Spectroscopy. Then, the photoelectrochemical properties of the samples were analyzed by Photo-Elect…
From dots to doughnuts: Two-dimensionally confined deposition of polyelectrolytes on block copolymer templates
2016
© 2016 Elsevier Ltd The combination of block copolymer templating with electrostatic self-assembly provides a simple and robust method for creating nano-patterned polyelectrolyte multilayers over large areas. The deposition of the first polyelectrolyte layer provides important insights on the initial stages of multilayer buildup. Here, we focus on two-dimensionally confined “dots” patterns afforded by block copolymer films featuring hexagonally-packed cylinders that are oriented normal to the substrate. Rendering the cylinder caps positively charged enables the selective deposition of negatively charged polyelectrolytes on them under salt-free conditions. The initially formed polyelectrolyt…
A block copolymer-templated construction approach for the creation of nano-patterned polyelectrolyte multilayers and nanoscale objects
2016
A block copolymer-based assembly approach for the creation of nano-patterned polyelectrolyte multilayers over cm2-scale areas is presented. Up to 5 bi-layers were selectively assembled on top of specific nano-domains featuring different morphologies. The successful isolation of nanoscale objects corresponding in shape to the template features is also demonstrated. This methodology is applicable to different types of polyelectrolytes, and opens up a new dimension for layer-by-layer construction.
Morphosynthesis of Strontianite Nanowires Using Polyacrylate Templates Tethered onto Self-Assembled Monolayers
2005
Strontianite nanowires have been synthesized on self-assembled monolayers (SAM) in the presence of polyacrylate templates. The morphology of this product exhibits characteristic differences from that of products obtained in the absence of polyacrylate. It is demonstrated that the template-induced crystallization process involves the interaction between the SAM surface, polyacrylate (a dissolved polyelectrolyte), and the cations/anions in solution. By the combination of these components, hierarchically ordered mineral hybrid structures are formed.
Electrochemical behaviour of copper-nickel alloys as immobilisation matrices for the storage of fission products in CO2-enriched synthetic groundwater
2013
International audience; The surface properties of nickel and copper alloys exposed to simulated French Callovo-Oxfordien ground-water (aerated and CO2-saturated solutions) have been evaluated from electrochemical impedance spectroscopy in conjunction with X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. The kinetic reactions and physical properties of the layers grown on the alloy's surfaces, change versus the Ni content in the alloys and the presence of CO2 in the solution. Nickel alloys retain favourable passive properties in such environments, whereas oxide products on copper alloys are insufficiently protective when formed in the absence of dissolved oxygen in the electrolyte. A maximum addition of 30…
Crystallization of Vaterite Nanowires by the Cooperative Interaction of Tailor-Made Nucleation Surfaces and Polyelectrolytes
2005
The concepts of template-induced crystallization on self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) and the use of polymer additives are combined into a new strategy, where, through the cooperative interaction of a SAM matrix involved in the nucleation process, poly(acrylic acid), a dissolved polyelectrolyte, and the dissolved ions, hierarchically ordered mineral structures are formed. The adsorption of poly(acrylic acid) to the SAM is monitored using a quartz microbalance. Transmission electron microscopy measurements on samples that are taken from polyacrylate solution in short intervals after the start of the reaction reveals that nanometer-sized particles pre-formed in solution are being attached to t…
Effects of electrolyte doping on electrodeposited nanostructured manganese oxide and chromium oxide
2020
Abstract Electrolyte additions are used to control the functionality of a nanostructured oxide. Dopant ions affect the size and shape of deposit crystallites and modify the host structure. Such ions can be incorporated into the deposit or form a separate oxide phase. The manganese dioxide family of polymorphs with ion-molecular sieve properties represents the additional possibilities of “template” effects of dopant ions on the phase composition, heterovalent substitution in the cationic sublattice, changes in morphology and alteration of nanocrystallite size during electrocrystallisation. The effects of electrolyte doping in electrodeposited, non-stoichiometric manganese dioxide (NH4+, Li+ …
Lithium ion conducting PVdF-HFP composite gel electrolytes based on N-methoxyethyl-N-methylpyrrolidinium bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)-imide ionic li…
2010
Blends of PVDF-HFP and ionic liquids (ILs) are interesting for application as electrolytes in plastic Li batteries. They combine the advantages of the gel polymer electrolytes (GPEs) swollen by conventional organic liquid electrolytes with the nonflammability, and high thermal and electrochemical stability of ILs. In this work we prepare and characterize PVDF-HFP composite membranes swollen with a solution of LiTFSI in ether-functionalized pyrrolidinium-imide (PYRA12O1). The membranes are filled in with two different types of silica: i) mesoporous SiO2 (SBA-15) and a commercial nano-size one (HiSilTM T700). The ionic conductivity and the electrochemical properties of the gel electrolytes ar…
Electrochemically-induced TiO2 incorporation for enhancing corrosion and tribocorrosion resistance of PEO coating on 7075 Al alloy
2018
Abstract 7075 Al alloy was PEO-treated in a silicate based electrolyte containing 3 g l-1 potassium titanyl oxalate using unipolar and bipolar pulsed current waveforms. The coating formed by the bipolar waveform with the wider cathodic pulses showed volcano-like surface morphology with no evidence of large pores at the metal/coating interface. It revealed the highest corrosion performance due to the synergistic effect of TiO2 incorporation and structural/morphological features along with a better passivation behavior indicating no pitting susceptibility. For this coating, the tribocorrosion tests showed no potential drop during sliding under 1 N with the lowest volume loss of 0.022 mm3.
Influence of an elastic stress on the conductivity of passive films
2001
Abstract The electrochemical impedance was measured over a large range of frequency and under straining condition in sodium chloride solution. The Mott-Schottky analysis, performed at high frequency, appears as very useful method to study the effect of an elastic stress on the capacitance values. The results obtained indicate that the semi-conductive properties of passive films formed on a type 316 L stainless steel (SS) are not markedly modified by an elastic stress when applied after ageing. In contrast, passive films formed in the presence of elastic stress have a higher donor and acceptor concentration than those formed in a stress-free state, suggesting that the passive film conductivi…
