Extremely low-frequency electromagnetic field (ELF-MF) therapy is a promising treatment for chronic pain, given its ability to interact with body homeostasis using water-mediated transmission mechanisms typical of quantum medicine. The present study aims to assess the effects of ELF-MF therapy on chronic pain in 49 patients suffering from various musculoskeletal disorders. AbstractIn this paper an advanced mesh-free particle method for electromagnetic transient analysis, is presented. The aim is to obtain efficient simulations by avoiding the use of a mesh such as in the most popular grid-based numerical methods. The basic idea is to obtain numerical solutions for partial differential equations describing the electromagnetic problem by using a set of particles arbitrarily placed in the problem domain. Rates, polarizations, and asymmetries in charmless vector-vector B meson decays

With a sample of approximately 89 million BBbar pairs collected with the BABAR detector, we perform a search for B meson decays into pairs of charmless vector mesons (phi, rho, and K*). We measure the branching fractions, determine the degree of longitudinal polarization, and search for CP violation asymmetries in the processes B->phiK*+, B->phiK*0, B->rho0K*+, and B->rho0rho+. We also set an upper limit on the branching fraction for the decay B->rho0rho0.
Theory overview of Heavy Ion collisions

This presentation discusses some recently active topics in the theoretical interpretation of high energy heavy ion collisions at the LHC and at RHIC. We argue that the standard paradigm for understanding the spacetime evolution of the bulk of the matter produced in the collision is provided by viscous relativistic hydrodynamics, which can be used to systematically extract properties of the QCD medium from experimental results. The initial conditions of this hydrodynamical evolution are increasingly well understood in terms of gluon saturation, and can be quantified using Classical Yang-Mills fields and QCD effective kinetic theory. Measurement of inclusive pi(0) production in hadronic Z(0) decays

An analysis is presented of inclusive \pi^0 production in Z^0 decays measured with the DELPHI detector. At low energies, \pi^0 decays are reconstructed by \linebreak using pairs of converted photons and combinations of converted photons and photons reconstructed in the barrel electromagnetic calorimeter (HPC). At high energies (up to x_p = 2 \cdot p_{\pi}/\sqrt{s} = 0.75) the excellent granularity of the HPC is exploited to search for two-photon substructures in single showers. The inclusive differential cross section is measured as a function of energy for {q\overline q} and {b \bar b} events. High-Precision Determination of the Electric and Magnetic Form Factors of the Proton

New precise results of a measurement of the elastic electron-proton scattering cross section performed at the Mainz Microtron MAMI are presented. About 1400 cross sections were measured with negative four-momentum transfers squared up to Q^2=1 (GeV/c)^2 with statistical errors below 0.2%. The electric and magnetic form factors of the proton were extracted by fits of a large variety of form factor models directly to the cross sections. The form factors show some features at the scale of the pion cloud. The charge and magnetic radii are determined to be r_E=0.879(5)(stat.)(4)(syst.)(2)(model)(4)(group) fm and r_M=0.777(13)(stat.)(9)(syst.)(5)(model)(2)(group) fm.

Exposure to electromagnetic fields (EMFs) can affect a wide range of biological processes, including reproduction, growth and development. Experiments aimed at investigating the biological effects of EMFs, focused on potential harmful effects on humans, have been mostly carried out in vitro or with animal models in laboratory conditions. By contrast, studies performed on wild animals are scarce. The effects of EMFs created by an electric power line on reproductive traits of a wild great tit (Parus major) population were explored by analysing data gathered during nine breeding seasons. The ring-current model of the paratropic pentalene molecule

The ring-current model for the pentalene molecule has been constructed by ab initio techniques. The current density vector field has been used to obtain magnetic shielding density maps for the different protons. It is shown that the paramagnetic flow of the π electrons causes an increase of the out-plane component of proton shielding tensors, that is overall shielding. Distant portions of the π flow also shield carbon nuclei.

Abstract Precise measurements of the complex permittivity of methylene chloride (CH 2 Cl 2 ) at 293 K have been made at frequencies in the range 50–310 GHz. These, when combined with earlier results, have made possible a determination of the complex permittivity over the entire zero to THz frequency region. These results show a distribution of dielectric relaxation times. The value of the Cole-Cole distribution parameter, α, was 0.03 and that of the relaxation time, τ, was 2.07 ps. Imprinting the complex dielectric permittivity of liquids into the spintronic terahertz emission

We report an approach in time-domain terahertz (THz) spectroscopy for measuring the dielectric response of liquids based on inherent properties of spintronic THz emitters (STEs). The THz electric field radiated from the STE is inversely proportional to the sum of the complex refractive indices of the media surrounding the thin metallic stack of the STE and the stack's conductivity. We demonstrate that by bringing a liquid in contact with the emitter, its complex refractive index and accordingly its dielectric response are imprinted into the radiated electromagnetic field from the emitter.
