Radiative muon capture on 12C and 16O

Abstract We study exclusive radiative muon capture on 12 C(g.s.) leading to 12 B(g.s.), and on 16 O(g.s.) leading to 16 N(0 − , 120 keV). Our investigation, which is based on impulse approximation, puts special emphasis on elementary particle aspects of radiative capture, such as tests of magnitude and momentum transfer dependence of the induced pseudoscalar, and possible contributions of axial currents of second kind (weak electricity). We calculate several correlation observables which are sensitive to the nucleonic currents but depend very little on the structure of the nuclear initial and final states. The relativistic spin-orbit current in deuteron photodisintegration below and above ?-threshold

It is shown that the spin-orbit current which leads to an improved description ofd(γ,p)n below π-threshold is essentially a two-body exchange effect. This is demonstrated by separation of its one-body contribution. Furthermore, above π-threshold its inclusion leads to an improved agreement with experiment, in particular for the differential cross section in the Δ-excitation region.

Proton emission off nuclei induced by kaons in flight

We study the (K-, p) reaction on nuclei with a 1 GeV/c momentum kaon beam, paying special attention to the region of emitted protons having kinetic energy above 600 MeV, which was used to claim a deeply attractive kaon nucleus optical potential. Our model describes the nuclear reaction in the framework of a local density approach and the calculations are performed following two different procedures: one is based on a many-body method using the Lindhard function and the other is based on a Monte Carlo simulation. The \ensuremath{\gamma}-ray spectra of the $^{112}\mathrm{Cd}$(p,n\ensuremath{\gamma}${)}^{112}$In and $^{109}\mathrm{Ag}$(\ensuremath{\alpha},n\ensuremath{\gamma}${)}^{112}$In reactions were measured with Ge(Li) spectrometers for bombarding energies of 4.8 MeV protons and 17.1 MeV \ensuremath{\alpha} particles. The energies and relative intensities of 79 $^{112}\mathrm{In}$ \ensuremath{\gamma}-ray transitions have been determined. The electron spectra were measured with combined magnet plus Si(Li) as well as superconducting magnetic lens plus Si(Li) spectrometers. C12(γ,p)11B cross section from 80 to 157 MeV

The $^{12}\mathrm{C}$(\ensuremath{\gamma},p${)}^{11}$B differential cross section has been measured over proton angles ranging from 58\ifmmode^\circ\else\textdegree\fi{} to 128\ifmmode^\circ\else\textdegree\fi{}, using tagged photons of energy 80--157 MeV, for low-lying regions of residual excitation energy in $^{11}\mathrm{B}$. The data have been compared with four different types of calculation. It is shown that scaling of the cross section with momentum mismatch occurs for both the ground-state and excited-state data.

Hybridization ofsd- andfp-shell proton orbitals in the systemS36+37Cl

Experimental and theoretical evidence is presented that the proton exchange is strongly enhanced by a mixing of single-particle configurations in $^{37}\mathrm{Cl}$ (in the system $^{36}\mathrm{S}$${+}^{37}$Cl, which is shown to be the clearest example of hybridization in nuclear physics. The experimental data on elastic and inelastic transfer are only reproduced if the complete set of single-particle states (${\mathit{d}}_{3/2}$,${\mathit{s}}_{1/2}$,${\mathit{f}}_{7/2}$,${\mathit{p}}_{3/2}$,${\mathit{f}}_{5/2}$, and ${\mathit{p}}_{1/2}$) is included in a coupled-reaction-channel calculation. Pion interaction with the trinucleon up to the eta production threshold

Pion elastic, charge exchange scattering and induced eta production on the trinucleon systems are investigated in a coupled-channels approach in momentum space with Fadeev wave functions. The channel $\pi N \rightarrow \eta N$ is included using an isobar model with S-, P-, and D-wave resonances. While the coherent reactions like $^3$He($\pi,\pi)^3$He can be reasonably well reproduced up to $T_{\pi}$=500 MeV, large discrepancies appear for the incoherent processes, $^3$He($\pi^-,\pi^0)^3$H and $^3$He($\pi^-,\eta)^3$H at backward angles and energies above $\Delta$-resonance. Exploring the 10Li structure by the d(9Li,p)10Li transfer reaction

The 9Li + 2H reaction has been investigated at 11 AMeV incident energy at the ISAC II facility (TRIUMF). In the present paper we focus on the one-neutron transfer channel, which potentially holds spectroscopic information on the unbound nucleus 10Li. The TUDA setup has been used in order to detect and identify the outgoing 9Li at forward angles and the recoil protons at backward angles. This setup allows to study the 10Li emitted in the crucial region at forward angles in the center of mass.

The d(9Li,p)10Li reaction as a tool to explore the 10Li structure

The ground and low-lying states of the unbound nucleus 10Li were populated by the 9Li + 2H → 10Li + 1H reaction at 11 AMeV incident energy at the ISAC II facility (TRIUMF). In the experimental setup, the outgoing 9Li at forward angles and the recoil protons at backward angles were detected and identified. This setup allows to study the 10Li emitted in the crucial region at forward angles in the centre of mass.

Gamow-Teller unit cross sections for (t,He3) and (He3,t) reactions

The proportionality between differential cross sections at vanishing linear momentum transfer and Gamow-Teller transition strength, expressed in terms of the unit cross section (${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\sigma}\ifmmode \hat{}\else \^{}\fi{}}}_{\mathit{GT}}$), was studied as a function of target mass number for ($t$,$^{3}\mathrm{He}$) and ($^{3}\mathrm{He}$,$t$) reactions at $115A$ MeV and $140A$ MeV, respectively.
