Measurement of theWZ→ℓνℓℓcross section and limits on anomalous triple gauge couplings inpp¯collisions ats=1.96TeV

2011

We present a new measurement of the WZ -> lvll (l = e, mu) cross section and limits on anomalous triple gauge couplings. Using 4.1 fb(-1) of integrated luminosity of p (p) over bar collisions at root s = 1.96 TeV, we observe 34 WZ candidate events with an estimated background of 6.0 +/- 0.4 events. We measure the WZ production cross section to be 3.89(-0.90)(+1.07) pb, in good agreement with the standard model prediction. We find no evidence for anomalous WWZ couplings and set 95% C.L. limits on the coupling parameters, -0.077 < lambda(z) < 0.093 and -0.029 < Delta kappa(z) < 0.080 in the HISZ parameterization for a Lambda = 2 TeV form factor scale. These are the best limits to date obtaine…

Search for supersymmetric particles using acoplanar charged-particle pairs from Z0 decays

1990

We have performed a search for supersymmetric particles using acoplanar pairs of oppositely-charged particles in decays of the Z0. In 0.53 pb−1 of integrated luminosity near the Z0 peak, we observe two events where approximately four are expected from background, allowing limits to be extended on combined photino and slepton masses, and also on combined photino and chargino masses.

Study of the associated production of photons andb-quark jets inpp¯collisions ats=1.96  TeV

2010

The cross section for photon production in association with at least one jet containing a b quark has been measured in proton antiproton collisions at {radical}(s)=1.96 TeV. The data sample used corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 340 pb{sup -1} collected with the CDF II detector. Both the differential cross section as a function of photon transverse energy E{sub T}{sup {gamma}}and the total cross section are measured and compared to a next-to-leading order prediction for the process.

Anomalous tensor magnetic moments and form factors of the proton in the self-consistent chiral quark-soliton model

2010

We investigate the form factors of the chiral-odd nucleon matrix element of the tensor current. In particular, we aim at the anomalous tensor magnetic form factors of the nucleon within the framework of the SU(3) and SU(2) chiral quark-soliton model. We consider $1/N_c$ rotational corrections and linear effects of SU(3) symmetry breaking with the symmetry-conserving quantization employed. We first obtain the results of the anomalous tensor magnetic moments for the up and down quarks: $\kappa_{T}^{u}=3.56$ and $\kappa_{T}^{d}=1.83$, respectively. The strange anomalous tensor magnetic moment is yielded to be $\kappa_{T}^{s}=0.2\sim -0.2$, that is compatible with zero. We also calculate the co…

Pulsar Velocities without Neutrino Mass

1998

We show that pulsar velocities may arise from anisotropic neutrino emission induced by resonant conversions of massless neutrinos in the presence of a strong magnetic field. The main ingredient is a small violation of weak universality and neither neutrino masses nor magnetic moments are required.

Observation of monojet events and tentative interpretation

1994

Abstract A data sample corresponding to almost two million hadronic Z decays collected by the ALEPH detector at LEP has been searched for monojet events. Three events were found, in agreement with the expectation from the process e + e − → γ * v v ¯ , with γ * → f f ¯ . Two events are hadronic, the third one being an e + e − pair. All monojet masses are in excess of 3 GeV/ c 2 , and two of the event have large transverse momenta: 18.5 and 20.3 GeV/ c . These kinematic characteristics are quite unlikely in the process e + e − → γ * v v ¯ . The probability of their occurence increases substantially when processes involving further Z or W exchanges are taken into account, but still remains at …

Measurement ofb-jet shapes in inclusive jet production inpp¯collisions ats=1.96  TeV

2008

We present a measurement of the shapes of b-jets using 300 pb(-1) of data obtained with the upgraded Collider Detector at Fermilab (CDF II) in p(p)overbar collisions at center-of-mass energy root s=1.96 TeV. This measurement covers a wide transverse momentum range, from 52 to 300 GeV/c. Samples of heavy-flavor enhanced jets together with inclusive jets are used to extract the average shapes of b-jets. The b-jets are expected to be broader than inclusive jets. Moreover, b-jets containing a single b-quark are expected to be narrower than those containing a b(b)overbar pair from gluon splitting. The measured b-jet shapes are found to be significantly broader than expected from the PYTHIA and H…

Search forB+→D+K0andB+→D+K*0decays

2010

We report a search for the rare decays B^+ → D^+K^0 and B^+ → D^+K^0 in an event sample of approximately 465 x 10^6 BB[overbar] pairs collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy e^+e^- collider at SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory. We find no significant evidence for either mode and we set 90% probability upper limits on the branching fractions of ℬ(B^+ → D^+K^0) < 2:9 x 10^(-6) and ℬ(B^+ → D^+K*^0) < 3:0 x 10^(-6).

Evidence forB+→K¯0K+andB0→K0K¯0, and Measurement of the Branching Fraction and Search for DirectCPViolation inB+→K0π+

2005

The authors present evidence for the b {yields} d penguin-dominated decays B{sup +} {yields} {bar K}{sup 0}K{sup +} and B{sup 0} {yields} K{sup 0}{bar K}{sup 0} with significances of 3.5 and 4.5 standard deviations, respectively. The results are based on a sample of 227 million {Upsilon}(4S) {yields} B{bar B} decays collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy e{sup +}e{sup -} collider at SLAC. We measure the branching fractions {Beta}(B{sup +} {yields} {bar K}{sup 0}K{sup +}) = (1.5 {+-} 0.5 {+-} 0.1) x 10{sup -6} (< 2.4 x 10{sup -6}) and {Beta}(B{sup 0} {yields} K{sup 0}{bar K}{sup 0}) = (1.19{sub -0.35}{sup +0.40} {+-} 0.13) x 10{sup -6}, where the uncertainties are …
