Semiphenomenological approach to nucleon properties in nuclear-matter

1992

We have evaluated the nucleon self-energy in a model that has proper analytical properties, satisfies the low density theorem and provides values of Im \ensuremath{\Sigma} for high densities comparable to those of realistic microscopic approaches. The model, however, relies only upon the NN experimental cross sections and the empirical spin-isospin interaction, which induces an important polarization of the medium. The results obtained for the spectral functions, occupation numbers, and effective masses are quite reasonable. The model does not give the absolute value of the nucleon self-energy but only differences with respect to the Fermi energy. On the other hand, it provides an easy and …

Coherent pion electroproduction on the deuteron in the Δ(1232) resonance region

1999

Coherent pion electroproduction on the deuteron is studied in the Δ(1232) resonance region in the impulse approximation, i.e., neglecting pion rescattering and two-body effects. The elementary reaction on the nucleon is described in the framework of an effective Lagrangian approach including the dominant P33(1232) resonance and the usual background terms of the Born contributions for π0 production. We have studied the influence of these different contributions on the various structure functions which determine the unpolarized exclusive differential cross section in a variety of kinematic regions.

A systematic comparison of jet quenching in different fluid-dynamical models

2010

Comparing four different (ideal and viscous) hydrodynamic models for the evolution of the medium created in 200 AGeV Au-Au collisions, combined with two different models for the path length dependence of parton energy loss, we study the effects of jet quenching on the emission-angle dependence of the nuclear suppression factor R_AA(phi) and the away-side per trigger yield I_AA(phi). Each hydrodynamic model was tuned to provide a reasonable description of the single-particle transverse momentum spectra for all collision centralities, and the energy loss models were adjusted to yield the same pion nuclear suppression factor in central Au-Au collisions. We find that the experimentally measured…

Radiative decay into gamma-baryon of dynamically generated resonances from the vector-baryon interaction

2010

We study the radiative decay into gamma and a baryon of the SU(3) octet and decuplet of nine and ten resonances that are dynamically generated from the interaction of vector mesons with baryons of the octet and the decuplet, respectively. We obtain quite different partial decay widths for the various resonances, and for different charge states of the same resonance, suggesting that the experimental investigation of these radiative decays should bring much information on the nature of these resonances. For the case of baryons of the octet we determine the helicity amplitudes and compare them with experimental data when available.

Randall-Sundrum corrections to the width difference andCP-violating phase inBs0-meson decays

2011

We study the impact of the Randall-Sundrum setup on the width difference $\ensuremath{\Delta}{\ensuremath{\Gamma}}_{s}$ and the $CP$-violating phase ${\ensuremath{\phi}}_{s}$ in the ${\overline{B}}_{s}^{0}$-${B}_{s}^{0}$ system. Our calculations are performed in the general framework of an effective theory, based on operator product expansion. The results can thus be used for many new-physics models. We find that the correction to the magnitude of the decay amplitude ${\ensuremath{\Gamma}}_{12}^{s}$ is below 4% for a realistic choice of input parameters. The main modification in the $\ensuremath{\Delta}{\ensuremath{\Gamma}}_{s}/{\ensuremath{\beta}}_{s}$-plane is caused by a new $CP$-violati…

Two-photon and one-photon–one-vector meson decay widths of thef0(1370),f2(1270),f0(1710),f2′(1525), andK2*(1430)

2010

We calculate the radiative decay widths, two-photon ($\ensuremath{\gamma}\ensuremath{\gamma}$) and one-photon--one-vector meson ($V\ensuremath{\gamma}$), of the dynamically generated resonances from vector-meson--vector-meson interaction in a unitary approach based on the hidden-gauge Lagrangians. In the present paper we consider the following dynamically generated resonances: ${f}_{0}(1370)$, ${f}_{0}(1710)$, ${f}_{2}(1270)$, ${f}_{2}^{\ensuremath{'}}(1525)$, ${K}_{2}^{*}(1430)$, two $\mathrm{\text{strangeness}}=0$ and $\mathrm{\text{isospin}}=1$ states, and two $\mathrm{\text{strangeness}}=1$ and $\mathrm{\text{isospin}}=1/2$ states. For the ${f}_{0}(1370)$ and ${f}_{2}(1270)$ we reproduc…

WEAK TRANSITION FORM FACTORS IN RARE HEAVY MESON DECAYS

1991

The transition form factors required for the rare heavy meson decays are evaluated. The model-independent absolutely normalized form factors, written in a compact form, among heavy to light and heavy to heavy meson transitions in the states such as 0−+→0−+, 1−, 0++, 1++ are given. A set of general relations among the form factors is obtained. The form factors involved in the rare B-meson decays are given as a direct application.

A measurement of the decay KL→π0γγ

1992

Abstract The full data set of the experiment NA31 at CERN has been used to analyse the decay mode KL→π0γγ. A signal of 63 events has been observed with an estimated background of 6.0±1.7 events, corresponding to a branching ratio of (1.7±0.3)×10−6 consistent with our previous result based on partial statistics. The invariant mass spectrum of the two photons is found to be consistent with chiral perturbation theory, and the decay is dominated by the J = 0 two photon state.

Measurement of the inclusive isolated prompt photon cross section inppcollisions ats=7  TeVwith the ATLAS detector

2011

A measurement of the cross section for the inclusive production of isolated prompt photons in pp collisions at a center-of-mass energy root s = 7 TeV is presented. The measurement covers the pseudorapidity ranges vertical bar eta(gamma)vertical bar < 1: 37 and 1: 52 <= vertical bar eta(gamma)vertical bar < 1: 81 in the transverse energy range 15 <= E-T(gamma) < 100 GeV. The results are based on an integrated luminosity of 880 nb(-1), collected with the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider. Photon candidates are identified by combining information from the calorimeters and from the inner tracker. Residual background in the selected sample is estimated from data based on the observed d…
