Search for Resonant Pair Production of Neutral Long-Lived Particles Decaying tobb¯inpp¯Collisions ats=1.96 TeV
2009
We report on a first search for resonant pair production of neutral long-lived particles (NLLP) which each decay to a b (b) over bar pair, using 3.6 fb(-1) of data recorded with the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron collider. We search for pairs of displaced vertices in the tracking detector at radii in the range 1.6-20 cm from the beam axis. No significant excess is observed above background, and upper limits are set on the production rate in a hidden-valley benchmark model for a range of Higgs boson masses and NLLP masses and lifetimes.
Measurements of the Absolute Branching Fractions of B± →k±Xc c
2020
A study of the two-body decays B±→XccK±, where Xcc refers to one charmonium state, is reported by the BABAR Collaboration using a data sample of 424 fb-1. The absolute determination of branching fractions for these decays are significantly improved compared to previous BABAR measurements. Evidence is found for the decay B+→X(3872)K+ at the 3σ level. The absolute branching fraction B[B+→X(3872)K+]=[2.1±0.6(stat)±0.3(syst)]×10-4 is measured for the first time. It follows that B[X(3872)→J/ψπ+π-]=(4.1±1.3)%, supporting the hypothesis of a molecular component for this resonance.
Double beta-decay and su(4) symmetry
1990
The amplitude for ββ decay with 2ν emission is shown to be related to (p,n) and (n,p) reactions on the initial and final states, respectively. The suppression of both ββ and (n,p) reaction is connected, and its origin is discussed by referring to theSU(4) symmetry. From present data on the first ones, we estimate the forward (n, p) strength of relevance for the ββ problem. The interest of the experimental determination of this strength is emphasized. Assuming a perturbative breaking of theSU(4) symmetry, results are given for76Ge,82Se,128Te and130Te.
A Study of Bose-Einstein Correlations In e+e- Annihilation At 91 Gev
1992
This paper describes a study of Bose-Einstein correlations made using the ALEPH detector at LEP. The correlations are found to enhance the two particle differential cross section for pairs of identical pions by a factor which can be roughly parametrized by R(Q) = 1 + lambda exp(-Q2-sigma(2)), where Q is the difference in the 3-momenta of the two pions in their centre of mass frame, lambda = 0.51 +/- 0.04 +/- 0.11 and sigma = 3.3 +/- 0.2 +/- 0.8 GeV-1, which corresponds to a source size of 0.65 +/- 0.04 +/- 0.16 fm. The large systematic errors on these results reflect their strong dependence on the choice of the reference sample used in the analysis. This problem is believed to occur primari…
Search for a Low-Mass Higgs Boson inΥ(3S)→γA0,A0→τ+τ−atBABAR
2009
We search for a light Higgs boson, $A^0$, in the radiative decay $\Upsilon(3S)\to\gamma A^0$, $A^0\to\tau^+\tau^-$, $\tau^+\to e^+\nu_e \overline{\nu}_{\tau}$ or $\tau^+\to \mu^+ \nu_{\mu} \overline{\nu}_{\tau}$. The data sample contains 122 million $\Upsilon(3S)$ events recorded with the \babar detector. We find no evidence for a narrow structure in the studied $\tau^+\tau^-$ invariant mass region of $4.03(1.5-16)\times 10^{-5}$ across the $m_{\tau^+\tau^-}$ range. We also set a 90% C.L. upper limit on the $\tau^+\tau^-$-decay of the $\eta_b$ at ${\mathcal{B}}(\eta_b\to \tau^+\tau^-)<8%$.
Higgs-boson radiative corrections to the decayS13(QQ¯)→Hγ
1988
We consider one-loop radiative corrections to the Wilczek mechanism (/sup 3/S/sub 1/(QQ-bar)..-->..H..gamma..) due to a subset of the electroweak theory, the Higgs sector, in the standard model and discuss extensions to two-Higgs-doublet models. We discuss the circumstances under which such corrections can be important.
Perturbative unitarity constraints on gauge portals
2017
Abstract Dark matter that was once in thermal equilibrium with the Standard Model is generally prohibited from obtaining all of its mass from the electroweak phase transition. This implies a new scale of physics and mediator particles to facilitate dark matter annihilation. In this work, we focus on dark matter that annihilates through a generic gauge boson portal. We show how partial wave unitarity places upper bounds on the dark gauge boson, dark Higgs and dark matter masses. Outside of well-defined fine-tuned regions, we find an upper bound of 9 TeV for the dark matter mass when the dark Higgs and dark gauge bosons both facilitate the dark matter annihilations. In this scenario, the uppe…
Search for the Higgs Boson in theH→WW→lνjjDecay Channel inppCollisions ats=7 TeVwith the ATLAS Detector
2011
A search for a Higgs boson has been performed in the H -> WW -> l nu jj channel in 1.04 fb(-1) of pp collision data at root s = 7 TeV recorded with the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider. No significant excess of events is observed over the expected background and limits on the Higgs boson production cross section are derived for a Higgs boson mass in the range 240 GeV WW production is 3.1 pb, or 2.7 times the standard model prediction.
Charged-Particle Multiplicity Density at Midrapidity in Central Pb-Pb Collisions atsNN=2.76 TeV
2010
The first measurement of the charged-particle multiplicity density at midrapidity in Pb-Pb collisions at a center-of-mass energy per nucleon pair root s(NN) = 2.76 TeV is presented. For an event sample corresponding to the most central 5% of the hadronic cross section, the pseudorapidity density of primary charged particles at midrapidity is 1584 +/- 4(stat) +/- 76(syst), which corresponds to 8.3 +/- 0.4(syst) per participating nucleon pair. This represents an increase of about a factor 1.9 relative to pp collisions at similar collision energies, and about a factor 2.2 to central Au-Au collisions at root s(NN) = 0.2 TeV. This measurement provides the first experimental constraint for models…
