Search for a Fermiophobic Higgs Boson Decaying into Diphotons inpp¯Collisions ats=1.96  TeV

2009

A search for a narrow diphoton mass resonance is presented based on data from 3.0 fb{sup -1} of integrated luminosity from p{bar p} collisions at {radical}s = 1.96 TeV collected by the CDF experiment. No evidence of a resonance in the diphoton mass spectrum is observed, and upper limits are set on the cross section times branching fraction of the resonant state as a function of Higgs boson mass. The resulting limits exclude Higgs bosons with masses below 106 GeV/c{sup 2} at a 95% Bayesian credibility level (C.L.) for one fermiophobic benchmark model.

DirectCPViolating Asymmetry inB0→K+π−Decays

2004

We present an updated search for direct CP violation in the decay B0 -> K+pi-. Using 227 million Y(4S) -> BBbar decays collected with the BaBar detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy e+e- collider at SLAC, we observe a total signal yield of n(K-pi+) + n(K+pi-) = 1606 +- 51 decays and measure the asymmetry [n(K-pi+)-n(K+pi-)]/[n(K-p+-)+n(K+pi-)] = -0.133+-0.030 (stat) +- 0.009 (syst). This measurement establishes direct CP violation in the B0 meson system at the level of 4.2 standard deviations.

Measurement of the D*(2010)+−D+ Mass Difference

2017

We measure the mass difference, Δm_{+}, between the D^{*}(2010)^{+} and the D^{+} using the decay chain D^{*}(2010)^{+}→D^{+}π^{0} with D^{+}→K^{-}π^{+}π^{+}. The data were recorded with the BABAR detector at center-of-mass energies at and near the ϒ(4S) resonance, and correspond to an integrated luminosity of approximately 468  fb^{-1}. We measure Δm_{+}=(140 601.0±6.8[stat]±12.9[syst])  keV. We combine this result with a previous BABAR measurement of Δm_{0}≡m(D^{*}(2010)^{+})-m(D^{0}) to obtain Δm_{D}=m(D^{+})-m(D^{0})=(4824.9±6.8[stat]±12.9[syst])  keV. These results are compatible with and approximately five times more precise than the Particle Data Group averages.

Search for flavor-changing-neutral-current D meson decays

2008

We study the flavor-changing-neutral-current process c to u mu+ mu- using 1.3 fb^-1 of p p bar collisions at sqrt(s) = 1.96 TeV recorded by the D0 detector operating at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. We see clear indications of the Ds+ and D+ to phi pi+ to mu+ mu- pi+ final states with significance greater than four standard deviations above background for the D+ state. We search for the continuum decay of D+ to pi+mu+mu- in the dimuon invariant mass spectrum away from the phi resonance. We see no evidence of signal above background and set a limit of B(D+ to pi+mu+mu-) < 3.9 x 10^-6 at the 90% C.L. This limit places the most stringent constraint on new phenomena in the c to u mu+ mu- t…

Measurement ofbHadron Lifetimes in Exclusive Decays Containing aJ/ψinpp¯Collisions ats=1.96  TeV

2011

We report on a measurement of b-hadron lifetimes in the fully reconstructed decay modes B{sup +}{yields}J/{psi}K{sup +}, B{sup 0}{yields}J/{psi}K{sup *}(892){sup 0}, B{sup 0}{yields}J/{psi}K{sub s}{sup 0}, and {Lambda}{sub b}{sup 0}{yields}J/{psi}{Lambda}{sup 0} using data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 4.3 fb{sup -1}, collected by the CDF II detector at the Fermilab Tevatron. The measured lifetimes are {tau}(B{sup +})=[1.639{+-}0.009(stat){+-}0.009(syst)] ps, {tau}(B{sup 0})=[1.507{+-}0.010(stat){+-}0.008(syst)] ps, and {tau}({Lambda}{sub b}{sup 0})=[1.537{+-}0.045(stat){+-}0.014(syst)] ps. The lifetime ratios are {tau}(B{sup +})/{tau}(B{sup 0})=[1.088{+-}0.009(stat){+-}0.004…

Measurement of the Polarization of theΥ(1S)andΥ(2S)States inpp¯Collisions ats=1.96  TeV

2008

We present a study of the polarization of the $\Upsilon(1S)$ and $\Upsilon(2S)$ states using a $1.3 $ fb$^{-1}$ data sample collected by the D0 experiment in 2002--2006 during Run II of the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. We measure the polarization parameter $\alpha=(\sigma_{T}-2\sigma_{L})/(\sigma_{T}+2\sigma_{L})$, where $\sigma_{T}$ and $\sigma_{L}$ are the transversely and longitudinally polarized components of the production cross section, as a function of the transverse momentum ($p_{T}^{\Upsilon}$) for the $\Upsilon(1S)$ and $\Upsilon(2S)$. Significant $p_{T}^{\Upsilon}$-dependent longitudinal polarization is observed for the $\Upsilon(1S)$. A comparison with theoretical models is prese…

Cold Nuclear Matter Effects onJ/ψYields as a Function of Rapidity and Nuclear Geometry ind+ACollisions atsNN=200  GeV

2011

We present measurements of J/psi yields in d + Au collisions at root S-NN = 200 GeV recorded by the PHENIX experiment and compare them with yields in p + p collisions at the same energy per nucleon-nucleon collision. The measurements cover a large kinematic range in J/psi rapidity (-2.2 < y < 2.4) with high statistical precision and are compared with two theoretical models: one with nuclear shadowing combined with final state breakup and one with coherent gluon saturation effects. In order to remove model dependent systematic uncertainties we also compare the data to a simple geometric model. The forward rapidity data are inconsistent with nuclear modifications that are linear or exponentia…

Search for Second-Class Currents inτ−→ωπ−ντ

2009

We report an analysis of tau- decaying into omega.pi-.nu_tau with omega -> pi+pi-pi0 using a data sample containing nearly 320 million tau pairs collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II B-Factory. We find no evidence for second-class currents and we set an upper limit of 0.69% at 90% confidence level for the fraction of second-class currents in this decay mode.

Photo and electroproduction of mesons

1994

The lecture provides an elementary introduction to photo and electroproduction of pseudoscalar mesons in the resonance region. After discussing the general structure of the elementary production amplitude and its symmetry properties the formalism is applied to some interesting physical problems.
