Information-based detection of nonlinear Granger causality in multivariate processes via a nonuniform embedding technique

We present an approach, framed in information theory, to assess nonlinear causality between the subsystems of a whole stochastic or deterministic dynamical system. The approach follows a sequential procedure for nonuniform embedding of multivariate time series, whereby embedding vectors are built progressively on the basis of a minimization criterion applied to the entropy of the present state of the system conditioned to its past states. A corrected conditional entropy estimator compensating for the biasing effect of single points in the quantized hyperspace is used to guarantee the existence of a minimum entropy rate at which to terminate the procedure. Revisiting the role of embedding in Systemic Functional Linguistics : Construing depth in “big texts”

This paper is concerned with exploring the role of embedded genres in expanding the meaning potential of long texts, focusing especially on complex tertiary assignments. A significant body of work has evolved in Systemic Functional Linguistics (SFL) on modelling “big texts” as macrogenres since Martin (1994: 29) posed the question how texts “get bigger than a page”. Embedding Evolution in Epidemic-Style Forwarding

International audience; In this work, we introduce a framework to let forwarding schemes evolve in order to adapt to changing and a priori unknown environments. The framework is inspired by genetic algorithms: at each node a genotype describes the forwarding scheme used, a selection process fosters the diffusion of the fittest genotypes in the system and new genotypes are created by combining existing ones or applying random changes. A case study implementation is presented and its performance evaluated via numerical simulations.

The Poisson embedding approach to the Calderón problem

We introduce a new approach to the anisotropic Calder\'on problem, based on a map called Poisson embedding that identifies the points of a Riemannian manifold with distributions on its boundary. We give a new uniqueness result for a large class of Calder\'on type inverse problems for quasilinear equations in the real analytic case. The approach also leads to a new proof of the result by Lassas and Uhlmann (2001) solving the Calder\'on problem on real analytic Riemannian manifolds. The proof uses the Poisson embedding to determine the harmonic functions in the manifold up to a harmonic morphism. The method also involves various Runge approximation results for linear elliptic equations.

Biased graph walks for RDF graph embeddings

Knowledge Graphs have been recognized as a valuable source for background information in many data mining, information retrieval, natural language processing, and knowledge extraction tasks. However, obtaining a suitable feature vector representation from RDF graphs is a challenging task. In this paper, we extend the RDF2Vec approach, which leverages language modeling techniques for unsupervised feature extraction from sequences of entities. LeSSS: Learned Shared Semantic Spaces for Relating Multi-Modal Representations of 3D Shapes

In this paper, we propose a new method for structuring multi-modal representations of shapes according to semantic relations. We learn a metric that links semantically similar objects represented in different modalities. First, 3D-shapes are associated with textual labels by learning how textual attributes are related to the observed geometry. Correlations between similar labels are captured by simultaneously embedding labels and shape descriptors into a common latent space in which an inner product corresponds to similarity. Introduction to generalized topological spaces

[EN] We introduce the notion of generalized topological space (gt-space). Generalized topology of gt-space has the structure of frame and is closed under arbitrary unions and finite intersections modulo small subsets. The family of small subsets of a gt-space forms an ideal that is compatible with the generalized topology. To support the definition of gt-space we prove the frame embedding modulo compatible ideal theorem. Weprovide some examples of gt-spaces and study key topological notions (continuity, separation axioms, cardinal invariants) in terms of generalized spaces.
