Abstract Unlike continuous whole-class (plenary) interaction, independent task work involves incipient teacher–student talk, as the teacher typically ‘makes rounds’ to engage in brief desk interactions with students. This article draws on multimodal conversation analysis to investigate how teacher movement during tasks offers resources for re-engaging in desk interactions and offering task-related guidance. Sexual harassment (SH) occurs when people-mostly women-are targets of unwanted sexual comments, gestures, or actions associated with a lack of empathy on the part of the offender. Virtual Reality (VR) has been defined as the "ultimate empathy machine" because it allows the user to take other people's perspective. [EN] The Rubber Hand Illusion (RHI) is a perceptual illusion that enables integration of artificial limbs into the body representation through combined multisensory integration. Most previous studies investigating the RHI have involved young healthy adults within a very narrow age range (typically 20-30 years old). The purpose of this paper was to determine the influence of age on the RHI. Musicological theories traditionally address the expressive powers of music within a framework of signification, in which musical affect is considered as a meaningful musical gesture. Consequently, affect is regarded as a property of the music instead of as a bodily reaction of the listener. I will outline a different conception of musical affect that takes into account the bodily nature of perception. I will introduce the notion of sonic stroke, i.e. a sound that induces affect in the listener. A sonic stroke thus is responsible for the occurrence of musical affect.
