Coordinating action in technology-supported shared tasks: Virtual pointing as a situated practice for mobilizing a response

2021

Drawing on recordings of remote screen-based work meetings in Finland, this conversation analytic study investigates interactive properties of mouse cursor movements in technology-mediated shared tasks. The article illustrates how participants rely on features afforded by the input device in ways that divert from its pre-designed functions to accomplish virtual pointing gestures. These gestures serve as an organizational resource in the precursory phase of action, i.e. when a next on-screen action is observably made relevant. In this sequential environment, pointing by means of the tool is a collaborative resource: an embodied practice for sustaining co-orientation and advancing the sequent…

Darba vietas demokrātija un darbinieku labklājība teledarba kontekstā uzņēmumā PULP Magazine

2021

2017

Abstract.Emotional awareness is the basic emotional competence, which refers to individual differences in the way of being aware of the emotional functioning. Moods appear without specific reason, and are prolonged in time. Both are involved in multiple processes that modulate behavior and cognitive processes. Overall, the literature suggests a relationship between these variables and academic performance in school, however, is a contentious issue to be determined. The objective is to study the relationship of emotional awareness and moods academic performance. The participants were 1423 children, between 8-12 years old (M=9.88, SD=1.20), of both sexes (52.4 % girls) from Valencia. Between looking back and moving ahead : an exploration of the role of the body and its movement in a music therapy case study

2017

We exist in this world through our bodies. Every single experience is stored in it, it helps us to communicate with others, relate and build meaningful relationships. However, when the connection to our experiences or the control over our body is disrupted by a traumatic experience or disease, we become disconnected from our genuine self and the world around us. Music therapy provides us with a space for integration – of painful or joyful memories, emotions, and our bodies. Especially in Western cultures this physical relationship to music is often neglected, even though music and dance probably developed simultaneously and are still very much the same in some African cultures. When we are …

Association of emotional intelligence with resilience and work engagement in sports coaches

2021

Problem statement. Sports coaching is recognized as a stressful and challenging profession due to several different aspects such as organizational, performance, contextual, interpersonal, and intrapersonal stressors that coaches face. High level of work stress is a risk factor for decreased well-being at work. Sports coaches’ wellbeing not only matters to coaches themselves but plays a significant role in athlete performance and well-being as well. Approach. There is research evidence on sports coaches’ stress and burnout. There is, however, little knowledge on personal resources that enhance sports coach’s well-being at work. Therefore, studies that examine personal resource factors that f…

Emotrasfusioni

2016

A review of music and emotion studies: Approaches, emotion models, and stimuli

2013

Abstract. The field of music and emotion research has grown rapidly and diversified during the last decade. This has led to a certain degree of confusion and inconsistency between competing notions of emotions, data, and results. The present review of 251 studies describes the focus of prevalent research approaches, methods, and models of emotion, and documents the types of musical stimuli used over the past twenty years. Although self-report approaches to emotions are the most common way of dealing with music and emotions, using multiple approaches is becoming increasingly popular. A large majority (70%) of the studies employed variants of the discrete or the dimensional emotion models. A …
