Reflecting on Work Values with Young Unemployed Adults in Finland

In this article, we explore the internal conversations about the work values of young unemployed adults in Finland. We draw on the theoretical concept of internal conversation by Margaret Archer in order to shift the focus from the individual work values to the interplay between subjective concerns and structural circumstances. The data consist of six group interviews conducted among 29 young unemployed adults. Este artículo presenta los principales temas abordados por los economistas de la educación a lo largo de los últimos cincuenta años. Después de recordar brevemente los antecedentes de la disciplina, se describen las aportaciones teóricas y empíricas realizadas a raíz del desarrollo de la teoría del capital humano, que es el fundamento de la economía de la educación. Más allá de los trabajos que tratan de los efectos externos de la educación, el artículo repasa también las principales aportaciones efectuadas en el análisis de los sistemas de enseñanza y en la evaluación de las políticas educativas.

Efficiency wage theory, evolved by the "new keynesians", is part of a research programme concerned with explaining "involuntary" unemployment as part of the "general equilibrium". So, these works are a synthesis attempt of neo-classical and keynesian analyses in the employment area. Indeed, the authors place their analysis in a walrasian framework, but they integrate a keynesian concept to complete their models.
