Abstract Aminopropyl methacrylamide chloride-graft-poly(N-vinyl pyrrolidone) nanogels (NGs) were designed to exploit the favorable properties of poly(N-vinyl pyrrolidone) (PVP), such as its high affinity to water and complexation ability of ions, molecules and macromolecules, with the availability of primary amino groups for bioconjugation reactions. A thorough structural characterization of the nanoscalar networks was performed via 1 H NMR and solid state 13 C NMR spectroscopies, while solid state NMR relaxation time measurements completed the NGs description in terms of polymer network density. Abstract The use of miniemulsions containing chemical precursors in the disperse phase is a versatile method to produce nanoparticles and nanostructures of different chemical nature, including not only polymers, but also a variety of inorganic materials. This Minireview focuses on materials in which nanostructures of metal oxides are synthesized in processes that involve the miniemulsion technique in any of the steps. This includes in the first place those approaches in which the spaces provided by nanodroplets are directly used to confine precipitation reactions that lead eventually to oxides. Fragmentation of accelerated 2.1 GeV/nucleon12C,14N and16O Ions in nuclear emulsion

The inelastic-interaction mean free path and fragmentation parameters in nuclear emulsion of accelerated 2.1 GeV/nucleon12C,14N and16O have been determined. The discrimination of the targets has been achieved with a new method. The global results obtained for the three ions have been compared with theM-group of the cosmic radiation.
Charged charmed particle lifetime

Abstract We present the lifetime values obtained for D ± and Λ c + , photoproduced in nuclear emulsion in the WA58 experiment. In photohadronic interactions, pairs of charmed particles are produced. Out of 20 charged charmed particles used for lifetime evaluation, 17 have their charmed partner seen emulsion, being then essentially free from any background. The values of the lifetime are τ D ± = (3.91 −1.25 +2.35 ) × 10 −13 s, τ Λ c + = (2.22 −0.75 +1.34 ) × 10 −13 s.
Measurement of the Lifetime of Neutral Charmed Mesons

Abstract The lifetime of neutral charmed particles photoproduced in emulsion has been measured. The lifetime value presented here was obtained from a sample of 22D 0 mesons, 18 of which have their charmed partner seen in emulsion. The sample is essentially background-free. The result obtained is τ D 0 =(2.11 +1.21 -0.63 )×10 13 s The D 0 mass derived from 8 3C events is m D 0 = 1856 ± 36 MeV/ c 2 .

The use of organic phosphates to avoid calcium phosphate precipitation in parenteral nutrition mixtures has been proposed. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the stability of total parenteral nutrition admixtures containing glucose-1-phosphate or glycerol phosphate as the phosphate source over 3 days. Three parenteral nutrition admixtures, each containing glucose-1-phosphate (30.0 mmol), glycerol phosphate (31.4 mmol) or inorganic phosphate (30.0 mmol), and their corresponding aqueous phases were prepared in 3-L ethylene vinyl acetate plastic bags and infusion bottles, and stored at 5 +/- 1 degrees C or 22 +/- 3 degrees C without light protection. We report new results from small-angle neutron scattering on d(1 2)-cyclohexane/lecithin/water micellar solutions performed as a function of the water content (w(o)), temperature (T) and dispersed phase volume fraction (phi). The data from dilute samples are interpretable in terms of the existence of giant cylindrical reverse micelles and are well fit with a core-shell model (that provides the micelle structure and dimensions) with values of 28 and 45 Angstrom for the inner core and the outer shell radii, almost independent on temperature and concentration. 8 pages; International audience; The impact of the ovo proteins ovalbumin and lysozyme-present in the first stage of egg shell formation-on the homogeneous formation of the liquid amorphous calcium carbonate (LACC) precursor, was studied by a combination of complementing methods: in situ WAXS, SANS, XANES, TEM, and immunogold labeling. Lysozyme (pI = 9.3) destabilizes the LACC emulsion whereas the glycoprotein ovalbumin (pI = 4.7) extends the lifespan of the emulsified state remarkably.
