In addition to the loss of function, mutant p53 can possess a dominant-negative effect on wild-type p53 and may also exert gain-of-function activity. It is not clear whether the functional status of p53 mutation contributes to differences in outcome in endometrial cancer. We collected a total of 92 RNA samples of high quality from endometrial cancer tissues, and the samples were subjected to yeast functional assay and sequencing for p53 mutations. We studied the expression of oestrogen and progesterone receptors (ER, PR) in postmenopausal women receiving tamoxifen for breast cancer. In addition the literature addressing the question of ER and PR expression in breast tissue during treatment with tamoxifen was reviewed. We demonstrated consistent expression of ER and PR in endometria from patients receiving tamoxifen, with a trend towards a higher proportion of receptor positive specimens during tamoxifen. In breast cancer tissue, the ER content seemed to be reduced following tamoxifen treatment. Abstract Background The aim of this study is to report on the impact of neuromodulation to the superior hypogastric plexus in patients with bladder atonia secondary to pelvic surgery. Methods In 4 consecutive patients with bladder atonia secondary to pelvic surgery, we performed a laparoscopic implantation of a neurostimulator—LION procedure—to the entire superior hypogastric plexus.
