Social Network Banking : A Case Study of 100 Leading Global Banks

2018

Social media is widely recognized as a challenging new communication technology in both economic and social contexts. The present article explores how banks have exploited this technology in the range of consumer retail banking services offered by 100 leading global banks on the three major social networking sites (SNS): Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube. Viewing social network (SN) banking as a separate delivery channel and offering a working definition of SN banking, the article shows that banks have been more cautious than other businesses in using SNS. The available services are classified on nine main dimensions: marketing, financial education and advice, information support, customer sup…

Motywacja osiągnięć, ciemna triada i zaangażowanie w pracę jako korelaty zachowań kontrproduktywnych

2018

The main objective of this paper is exploration of mechanisms clarifying work behaviors commonly known as bad. Researchers call it Counterproductive Work Behaviors (CWB). Understanding of those processes can lead to theoretical conclusions that could help to minimize those behaviors in organizations. Presented research (N=138) was conducted to verify: 1) Goal Achievement Motivation, Dark Triad and Work Engagement as Counterproductive Work Behaviors predictors, 2) moderating role of Dark Triad and Work engagement for Counterproductive Work Behaviors. Additionally, we checked Narcissism as a mediator of Psychopathy and Machiavellianism with Counterproductive Work Behaviors. We used: Utrecht W…

Contributions from Informal Geography to Close the Gap in Geographic Information Communication in a Digital World

2019

Contemporary challenges and problems of society demand decision support systems that use geographic information. Even though geography since its origins has been a science with a strong transversal character, society has now made it become the focus of its agenda. Novel and other already established actors are involved in this rediscovery and popularization of geography. Both groups are promoting known and unknown geographical tasks thanks to technology, which is revealing new landscapes of our old territories and showing us the agency capacity of Geography Science. In this chapter, the authors review the offers and demands of communication on geographic information from the informal geogra…

Radicalization in Correctional Systems: A Scoping Review of the Literature Evaluating the Effectiveness of Preventing and Countering Interventions

2023

Although several prevention and countering radicalization programs in correctional institutions have been carried out in Europe and worldwide, little is known about their effectiveness. Thus, the current scoping review aimed at reporting on the state of the art of the literature assessing and evaluating such actions, identifying knowledge gaps, and examining methods used to assess their successfulness and impact. A total of eight studies that met eligibility criteria were reviewed after performing a search on Scopus, Web of Science, and PsychInfo (Ebsco) databases: Two studies evaluated a reintegration initiative based in the Netherlands; four focused on an Australian disengagement program;…

The assessment of detachment among university students: Validation of the Recovery Experience Questionnaire in educational contexts

2017

2015

Since its invention in the fifties, cultural policy has been the subject of analysis and reflection by the social sciences. Initially, social sciences adopted a critical point of view on the objectives and instruments of public action in the cultural sphere. An attitude that Social Science were losing and finally ended uncritically legitimizing the projects of economic and urban development based on culture. This paradigm is currently exhausted, first, by the excesses one vision instrumentalization of culture and, moreover, by a general collapse of the cultural system due to the economic crisis, lack of planning and evaluation and, because of the transition to digital paradigm. In this cont…

Internet Gaming Disorder profiles and their associations with social engagement behaviours.

2021

Abstract Internet Gaming Disorder (IGD), describes the abuse of Internet games with detrimental impact to the real-life social engagement of some gamers. Indeed, evidence suggests that gamers differ on the severity and way in which they express IGD symptoms, as well as their social engagement behaviours. The present study aimed to: a) profile gamers regarding their experience of IGD symptoms and; b) examine how different IGD profiles varied on social engagement behaviours. Methods: A sample consisting of 1032 gamers (18–72 years, Mage = 24) was assessed with the Internet Gaming Disorder Scale 9 Items Short Form (IGDS9-SF) and social engagement questions regarding their participation in empl…

Adapting RRI public engagement indicators to the Spanish scientific and innovation context: a participatory methodology based on AHP and content anal…

2022

The paradigm proposed by Responsible Research and Innovation in the European Commission policy discourse identifies Public Engagement as a key area for exchange and dialogue among multiple actors following an inclusive and participatory process. Two definite set of indicators have already arisen at European level to monitor Public Engagement activities in the Science and Innovation realm. Our study aims to propose a deliberative participatory process, which involves selected stakeholders, for the adaptation of the European indicators to the specific Spanish scientific and innovation context. The methodological procedure is of exploratory nature and will be based in a combination of, on the …

Positron emission tomography in CNS drug discovery and drug monitoring.

2014

Molecular imaging methods such as positron emission tomography (PET) are increasingly involved in the development of new drugs. Using radioactive tracers as imaging probes, PET allows the determination of the pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic properties of a drug candidate, via recording target engagement, the pattern of distribution, and metabolism. Because of the noninvasive nature and quantitative end point obtainable by molecular imaging, it seems inherently suited for the examination of a pharmaceutical’s behavior in the brain. Molecular imaging, most especially PET, can therefore be a valuable tool in CNS drug research. In this Perspective, we present the basic principles of PET, th…

Influence of Socio-Demographic Factors in the Promotion of Social Entrepreneurship: A Service-Learning Programme

2021

Social entrepreneurship (SE) is often presented in the literature as the key to solve many of this world’s persistent social problems. SE offers a special opportunity to address the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and to boost the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This research examines the effects of Service Learning (SL) on the SE of university students and to examine whether certain sociodemographic factors (i.e., age, entrance studies, family studies, social participation, and employment situation) are associated with students’ SE competence development when applying SL. Pre-service teachers (n = 98) of the degree in early childhood education applied a physical education SL …
