Dasein e Humanitas.
2020
The critique of humanistic interpretations as a "person", as "being composed of spirit, soul and body", is aimed at claiming a level of discourse that “allows the event of the truth of being to happen” placing the 'humanitas on a higher level capable of restoring a new dignity to man. The invitation to overcome any anthropologism and subjectivism inaugurates a perspective for the contemporary world in which, by virtue of such decentralization, man is not master of other entities. Although many posthumanisms start from the critique of humanism, the very difference - albeit in the proximity - between the essence of action and that of the technique resolutely affirmed by Heidegger represents a…

Anthropocentrism versus Ecocentrism Revisited: Theoretical Confusions and Practical Conclusions
2013
One of the hardest questions in environmental philosophy is the debate between anthropocentric and ecocentric accounts of value. I argue that a great deal of the disagreement in this debate arises from a) misunderstanding of the concepts used in the debate and b) unfruitful reading of vaguely framed arguments. The conceptual and argumentative analysis of the debate shows that many arguments can be ignored as they either contain conceptual confusion or concern issues that are actually irrelevant to the centrism division. However, there are arguments that maintain their relevance, and these arguments have important consequences on the practical environmental ethics. Hence, contrary to Bryan G…
Ethnocentrism Effects on Consumers’ Behavior during COVID-19 Pandemic
2021
The COVID-19 pandemic has upset everyone’s normal daily activities, generating psychiatric disorders and changing consumers’ preferences. Among others, the agri-food sector has experienced strong changes and, during the lockdown period, Italian consumers modified their purchasing habits in response to the fear and uncertainty generated by the spread of the virus. In order to find out the main consequences of the shock suffered during the period and to understand which factors have affected purchasing choices, an online survey was conducted on 286 Italian consumers. The results show that ethnocentrism has been the factor that most has influenced consumers’ behavior during the lockdown period…
What characterizes Norwegian nursing students’ reflective journals during clinical placement in an African country?

The exceptional nature of the first person in natural story processing and the transfer of egocentricity
2018
Human language enables us to externalise self-internal information (e.g. emotions or beliefs that are not readily accessible to others). Thus, language bridges the gap between the self and the other (e.g. Frith and Frith, 2010) in a way that possibly no other communication system can provide. In many languages, the difference between the self and others is directly reflected in the distinction between first (“I”), second (“you”) and third person (“he, she”) marking. In the present study, we compared ERPs to first, second and third person pronouns during the comprehension of an audio-book version of The Little Prince. Our results revealed a strong P300 response following first person pronoun…
Die mediterrane Faszination. Die erste deutsche Mittelmeer- und Orientkreuzfahrt
2022
This a…
Roma, faue coeptis.
2015
The paper focuses on the section of eighth book of Pharsalia, in which Pompeius discusses with the members of the senate in order to decide the place to find refuge. Particularly, the choice that will bring Pompeius to death in Egypt is determined by the speech of Lentulus: in order to reject proposals for an alliance with the Parthians, he adopts the perspective of the ancient ethnocentrism and his prejudices. Nevertheless, in the architecture of the episode, it is determinant the rhetorical culture of the Author.
A framework to analyse gender bias in epidemiological research
2007
The design and analysis of research may cause systematic gender dependent errors to be produced in results because of gender insensitivity or androcentrism. Gender bias in research could be defined as a systematically erroneous gender dependent approach related to social construct, which incorrectly regards women and men as similar/different. Most gender bias can be found in the context of discovery (development of hypotheses), but it has also been found in the context of justification (methodological process), which must be improved. In fact, one of the main effects of gender bias in research is partial or incorrect knowledge in the results, which are systematically different from the real…
