Bakalaura darbā raksturotas vides tiesības kā prioritāru zināšanu kopums vides saglabāšanas un uzturēšanas nodrošināšanai, kā arī iekļauta ar vides tiesībām saistītu atsevišķu (3) precedentu uzskaite un analīze Latvijā. Darbā izklāstīta vides tiesību evolūcija, tiesību aktu sistēmas izveide Latvijā, Rietumu tiesību sistēmas lokā esošo tiesību loku salīdzināšana, kā arī ieskatam sniegts piemērs, kā vides tiesības tiek aktualizētas un pieņemtas citās pasaulē ekonomiski augošās un strauji attīstošās sistēmās – ASV un Ķīnā.

Offsetting harmful ecological impacts by restoring conservation areas

Ihmistoiminnasta aiheutuvat ekologisesti haitalliset vaikutukset voidaan kompensoida tuottamalla luonnon kannalta hyötyjä, esimerkiksi ennallistamalla elinympäristöjä tai perustamalla uusia luonnonsuojelualueita. Elinympäristön ennallistaminen mahdollistaa elinympäristön palautumisen kohti luonnontilaa. Tämän tutkimuksen tarkoituksena oli selvittää, voitaisiinko jo aiemmin suojelluilla alueilla tehtävällä ennallistamisella saavuttaa ekologisessa kompensaatiossa tarvittava luontohyöty. The article aims to provide a short overview of the current situation regarding public access to information, participation and access to justice in Europe. The article briefly presents the role of the Aarhus Convention and its compliance mechanism in shaping the respective legal framework at both national level and EU level. On that basis it summarises some key challenges and implementation problems respectively in relation to public access to information, participation and access to justice.

All legal systems by now must confront the issue of environmental protection. The scope of this paper is to analyse the Ecuadorian approach, considering that it is the only legal system which, so far, has constitutionalized the rights of Nature, thus allowing a change in the status of Nature, from object to subject of law, overcoming the traditional approach of Western environmental law.
