Abstract Background This study aims to validate and evaluate the psychometric properties and reliability of the Italian version of the Expanded Prostate Cancer Index Composite – Short Form (EPIC-26), a measure of quality of life (QoL) for prostate cancer patients. This contribution suggests an amendment to QS v 83, where it is considered necessary to correct a[llo~ to a[lla~. This correction, supported by comparison with other storm scenes in the epics, helps to clarify the meaning of the passage.

Georgios T (somis )'s commentary on Book VII of the Posthomericas constitutes a significant, clear and complete aid for readers and scholars of Quintus of Smyrna. The commentary is preceded by an introduction that places VII in the general context of the work and provides some information on the story of the protagonist of this section of the Posthomerica. The comment is divided into several parts that follow the course of the plot: each of them is introduced by narrative-logical premises, followed by a detailed analysis of the text, word by word.

This paper aims to examine the text of the seventh book of Quintus Smyrnaeus’ Posthomerica, the object of a recent commentary by G. P. Tsomis. Particular attention will be paid to problems concerning textual criticism and exegesis, contained in the book, which recounts the events connected with Neoptolemus’ intervention in the Trojan War. An issue concerning the narrative structure and technique will also be addressed: the poet appears to intentionally imitate Homer not only from a linguistic and lexical point of view, but also in the handling of contemporary events, in which connection Zielinski’s law may be seen as applying to Quintus’ work.
Foreed flushing of branch segments as a method for obtaining reactive explants of mature Quercus robur trees for micropropagation

The aim of this study was to micropropagate mature Quercus robur L. trees when material retaining physiologically juvenile characteristics (stump sprouts, epicormic shoots) is not available. Branch segments from 70–300 year-old trees were force-flushed and the flushed, partially rejuvenated or reinvigorated shoots were used as a source of explants for establishment of cultures. In vitro establishment and multiplication was achieved with seven of the eight selected trees. L'articolo è frutto di un lavoro comune; i paragrafi 1, 3 e 6 sono stati redatti da Massimo Fusillo, i paragrafi 2, 4 e 5 da Clotilde Bertoni. Il lavoro analizza il "Teagene", poema epico di Giambattista Basile ispirato alle "Etiopiche" di Eliodoro, e prende in esame altre opere seicentesche legate al romanzo ellenistico. The article results from a common work: paragraphs 1, 3 and 6 have been written by Massimo Fusillo, paragraphs 2, 4 and 5 by Clotilde Bertoni. It analyzes "Teagene" an epic poem by Giambattista Basile, based on Heliodorus' Aethiopica, and it also examines some other works of the same period connected with th Hellenistic novel.

The excavations at “Cova del Randero” (Pedreguer, Alicante, Spain) began in 2007 within the programme of archaeological interventions of the Archaeological Museum of Alicante. The cavity, located in one of the valleys that connect the coast with the inland mountains, presents a wide sequence of occupations that begins in the Upper Palaeolithic and continues throughout the different phases of the Neolithic. The results of a multidisciplinary study, carried out in an archaeological context associated with the first Neolithic presence of the cavity, are presented here.
