Epilepsy in neuropathologically verified Alzheimer's disease

Purpose Subjects with Alzheimer’s disease (AD) have been shown to be at a higher risk for epilepsy. The vast majority of the previous studies have not included a full neuropathological examination. Methods The objective of this study was to assess the prevalence of epilepsy and clinicopathological characteristics in a well-defined study group of 64 subjects with AD. We evaluated the clinicopathological findings in 64 subjects (mean age at death 85 ± 8.6 years) from a longitudi-nal study cohort of patients with dementia. Epilepsijas pacientu depresijas un trauksmes simptomu pašnovērtējums

Ievads. Epilepsija ir saistīta ar paaugstinātu risku attīstīties tādiem psihiatriskiem traucējumiem kā depresija un trauksme. Šie traucējumi negatīvi ietekmē epilepsijas ārstēšanas rezultātus, dzīves kvalitāti, kā arī paaugstina pašnāvības risku. Tomēr tie joprojām netiek pietiekami atpazīti un ārstēti. Mērķis. Darba mērķis ir novērtēt depresijas un trauksmes simptomu sastopamību cilvēkiem ar epilepsiju, salīdzinot ar cilvēkiem, kuriem nav epilepsijas, balstoties uz simptomu pašnovērtējumu. Materiāli un metodes. Pētījums tika veikts Rīgas Austrumu klīniskajā universitātes slimnīcā 2020. gadā, un tajā iekļauts 21 pacients ar epilepsiju, 21 – bez epilepsijas.
