The article analyzes the two later works of Christoph Marin Wieland, Menander and Glycerion, 1803, and Krates and Hipparchia, 1804. The actions of the short epistolary novels take place in ancient Greece. In this article are analyzed the formal, thematic and local similarities. In this article I would like to focus on the reason why shortly after the publication of the long letter novel Aristipp, 1801, Christoph Martin Wieland changes his concept of text types.

Last Letters

This collection of essays is devoted to last letters: letters sent - or not - to sever a relationship, to mark the end of a phase in one's life, or letters written by people about to be executed or commit suicide just before their deaths. Conversely, some of the letters analysed are fictional, and still other forms of texts, such as poems, are considered ultimate messages by the authors of the articles. By focussing on various forms of last letters, the contributors aim to define the influence of the epistolary context on endings and to provide an original approach to closure.

Este trabajo analiza la figura de Segunda Martínez de Robles, pintora, traductora y escritora de la novela Las españolas náufragas o Correspondencia de dos amigas (1831). La autora refiere en ese texto algunos hechos con claras referencias autobiográficas. La novela fue escrita en estilo epistolar, un género emergente en aquellos años, y en su prólogo Segunda deja oír su propia voz justificando la osadía de su escritura novel por una necesidad económica. Epistolary Sketches: Landscapes in a Few Letters by Wordsworth, Shelley and Keats

This paper concentrates on the way in which a few Romantic poets tried to share their first impressions of landscape when addressing close friends or relatives in familiar letters. In these letters, we do not have the poetic re-creation of an artefact inspired by a landscape; because letters are supposed to be spontaneous, they reflect perceptions and emotions with less aesthetic distance than a poem. As such they are revealing, not only of each writer's concerns and reactions, but also of the way his perceptions have been shaped by education and former experiences.
