A simulation function approach for best proximity point and variational inequality problems

2017

We study sufficient conditions for existence of solutions to the global optimization problem min(x is an element of A) d(x, fx), where A, B are nonempty subsets of a metric space (X, d) and f : A -> B belongs to the class of proximal simulative contraction mappings. Our results unify, improve and generalize various comparable results in the existing literature on this topic. As an application of the obtained theorems, we give some solvability theorems of a variational inequality problem.

Abstract Objectives To examine how gender functions in the narrative construction of dual career styles, and how these styles impact the (dis)continuation of a dual career pathway. Design Longitudinal qualitative study. Method Life story interviews with 18 talented Finnish athletes (10 cis women, 8 cis men) at four points in time – when they averaged 16, 17, 19, and 20 years of age – followed by an integrative narrative-discursive analysis. Results (a) contrapuntal style was gender-typically female; (b) monophonic style was gender-typically male; and (c) dissonant style was an important pathway to dual career discontinuation through which gender ideologies impacted the emergent adults with …

MR2481817 (2010e:46040): Haluška, Ján; Hutník, Ondrej On vector integral inequalities. Mediterr. J. Math. 6 (2009), no. 1, 105–124. (Reviewer: Luisa …

2009

I. Dobrakov in his papers [Czechoslovak Math. J. 40(115) (1990), no. 1, 8--24; MR1032359 (90k:46097); Czechoslovak Math. J. 40(115) (1990), no. 3, 424--440; MR1065022 (91g:46052)] developed a theory for integrating vector-valued functions with respect to operator-valued measures: Let X and Y be two Banach spaces, Δ be a δ-ring of subsets of a nonempty set T, L(X,Y) be the space of all continuous operators L:X→Y, and m:Δ→L(X,Y) be an operator-valued measure σ-additive in the strong operator topology of L(X,Y). A measurable function f:T→X is said to be integrable in the sense of Dobrakov if there exists a sequence of simple functions fn:T→X, n∈N, converging m-a.e. to f and the integrals ∫.fnd…

LGBTIQ+ break-up assemblages : At the end of the rainbow

2020

This article explores Finnish LGBTIQ+ people’s break-ups. The long battle for equal rights has placed LGBTIQ+ people’s relationships under pressure to succeed. Previous studies argue that partners in LGBTIQ+ relationships try to appear as ordinary and happy as possible, and remain silent about the challenges they face in their relationships. Consequently, they may miss out on opportunities to receive institutional and familial support. This study aims to move beyond recurrent frameworks that take the similarity or difference between LGBTIQ+ relationships/break-ups and mixed-sex relationships as a predefined point of departure. The analysis draws on ethnographic observations of relationship …

The European media discourse on immigration and its effects: a literature review

2018

To understand public opinion about immigration in Europe, one has to understand the media’s role in it. We present a literature review on research on media discourse on immigration and their effects. Despite differences in the way immigration and migrant groups are represented in European media, we can observe common patterns. Migrants are generally under-represented and shown as delinquents or criminals. Although, media framing differs based on specific migrant groups the discourse is focusing on, immigration coverage is often negative and conflict-centred. Frequent exposure to such media messages leads to negative attitudes towards migration, may activate stereotypical cognitions of migra…

Further Results on Modeling, Analysis, and Control Synthesis for Offshore Wind Turbine Systems

2014

Renewable energy is a hot topic all over the world. Nowadays, there are several sustainable renewable power solutions out there; hydro, wind, solar, wave, and biomass to name a few. Most countries have a tendency to want to become greener. In the past, all new wind parks were installed onshore. During the last decade, more and more wind parks were installed offshore, in shallow water. This chapter investigates a comparative study on the modeling, analysis, and control synthesis for the offshore wind turbine systems. More specifically, an \( {\mathcal{H}}_{\infty } \) static output-feedback control design with constrained information is designed. Constrained information indicates that a rema…

The benefits of inclusive education: new challenges for university teachers

2017

Inclusive education is a child’s right, not a privilege. The amount of current attention given to children and to childhood is unprecedented. In a world affected by financial crises, attitudes about children’s needs are very important. Recent years have seen innovations in the focus of research, as political moves that challenge the ways different children have been excluded and silenced. Inclusive education is a real and urgent need for all educational systems around the world. Inside our university, the Teachers Training Department needs to take serious measures to create a professional environment for all the students involved in the initial training for becoming teachers at all levels. …

CAPITAL FLOW BONANZAS AS A FUNDAMENTAL INGREDIENT IN SPAIN'S FINANCIAL CRISES, 1850-2015

2020

The need of political governance: The political sphere as main thrust and guarantor on Walzer’s theory

2014

Using as a pretext Walzer’s political theory, this article aims to show the need for politics in our times and contemporary s…
