From fracture to damage mechanics: a behavior law for microcracked composites using the concept of crack opening mode

International audience; Many studies have been carried out in order to build a coherent macroscopic behavior law for a composite containing microcracks. All of them are only partially coherent and none of them is complete. This study proposes a hyperelastic behavior law for a microcracked composite, respecting all the conditions associated with the damage activation/deactivation, stress/strain relation continuity, induced anisotropy and the Clausius–Duhem inequality. This approach is based on the definition of the Crack Opening Mode for Damage Mechanics as it exists in Fracture Mechanics.

Bidirectional labeling in column-generation algorithms for pickup-and-delivery problems

Abstract For the exact solution of many types of vehicle-routing problems, column-generation based algorithms have become predominant. The column-generation subproblems are then variants of the shortest-path problem with resource constraints which can be solved well with dynamic-programming labeling algorithms. For vehicle-routing problems with a pickup-and-delivery structure, the strongest known dominance between two labels requires the delivery triangle inequality (DTI) for reduced costs to hold. The paper is concerned with fully guaranteed and computable bounds of errors generated by Uzawa type methods for variational problems in the theory of visco-plastic fluids. The respective estimates have two forms. The first form contains global constants (such as the constant in the Friedrichs inequality for the respective domain), and the second one is based upon decomposition of the domain into a collection of subdomains and uses local constants associated with subdomains.

Quasi-nash equilibria for non-convex distributed power allocation games in cognitive radios

In this paper, we consider a sensing-based spectrum sharing scenario in cognitive radio networks where the overall objective is to maximize the sum-rate of each cognitive radio user by optimizing jointly both the detection operation based on sensing and the power allocation, taking into account the influence of the sensing accuracy and the interference limitation to the primary users. A variational inequality approach to constrained control problems for parabolic equations

A distributed optimal control problem for parabolic systems with constraints in state is considered. The problem is transformed to control problem without constraints but for systems governed by parabolic variational inequalities. The new formulation presented enables the efficient use of a standard gradient method for numerically solving the problem in question. Comparison with a standard penalty method as well as numerical examples are given.

Passivity-based output feedback control of Markovian jump systems with discrete and distributed time-varying delays

In this article, we present a new method in designing mode-dependent passivity-based output feedback controllers for Markovian jump systems with time-varying delays. Both discrete and distributed delays are considered in the model. A Lyapunov–Krasovskii function is constructed to establish new required sufficient conditions for ensuring exponentially mean-square stability and the passivity criteria, simultaneously. The method produces linear matrix inequality formulation that allows obtaining controller gains based on a convex optimisation method. Finally, a numerical example is given to illustrate the effectiveness of our approach.

This paper investigated the problem of control design for a class of stochastic systems with Markovian jump parameters and time-varying delays. For the model under consideration, a passivity-based approach is introduced for designing mode-dependent output feedback controllers with mixed discrete and distributed delays.
