Reconciling open charm production at the Fermilab Tevatron with QCD

2005

We study the inclusive hadrodroduction of D^0, D^+, D^{*+}, and D_s^+ mesons at next-to-leading order in the parton model of quantum chromodynamics endowed with universal non-perturbative fragmentation functions (FFs) fitted to e^+e^- annihilation data from CERN LEP1. Working in the general-mass variable-flavor-number scheme, we resum the large logarithms through the evolution of the FFs and, at the same time, retain the full dependence on the charm-quark mass without additional theoretical assumptions. In this way, the cross section distributions in transverse momentum recently measured by the CDF Collaboration in run II at the Fermilab Tevatron are described within errors.

Common fixed point results on quasi-Banach spaces and integral equations

2013

In this paper we obtain fixed and common fixed point theorems for self-mappings defined on a closed and convex subset C of a quasi-Banach space. We give also a constructive method for finding the common fixed points of the involved mappings. As an application we obtain a result of the existence of solutions of integral equations.

Parametric self-trapping in the presence of randomized quasi phase matching

2010

We report on experimental evidence of parametric spatial solitons in a quadratic crystal with randomized periodic ferroelectric poling. Two-color self-focusing via quadratic cascading overcomes the diffractive nature of both fundamental and frequency-doubled beams.

Quantum light depolarization: the phase-space perspective

2008

Quantum light depolarization is handled through a master equation obtained by coupling dispersively the field to a randomly distributed atomic reservoir. This master equation is solved by transforming it into a quasiprobability distribution in phase space and the quasiclassical limit is investigated.

Dynamic Characterization of Upconversion in Highly Er-Doped Silica Photonic Crystal Fibers

2012

Measurements of time evolution of amplified spontaneous emission for square-wave modulated pump were made on a highly erbium-doped silica photonic crystal fiber and fitted to theoretical results calculated using different formalisms to describe the ${\rm Er}^{3+}$ -ion migration-assisted co-operative upconversion mechanism in the population densities rate equations. The determined characterization parameters are the constant homogeneous upconversion coefficient, 3.0 $\times 10^{-24}~{\rm m}^{3}/{\rm s}$ , the critical radii for upconversion and migration, 10.5 and 14A, respectively, and the rate of clustered ions, 14%. These parameters are analysed and compared to those obtained with contin…

Ab initiophase diagram of iridium

2016

The phase diagram of iridium is investigated using the Z methodology. The Z methodology is a technique for phase diagram studies that combines the direct Z method for the computation of melting curves and the inverse Z method for the calculation of solid-solid phase boundaries. In the direct Z method, the solid phases along the melting curve are determined by comparing the solid-liquid equilibrium boundaries of candidate crystal structures. The inverse Z method involves quenching the liquid into the most stable solid phase at various temperatures and pressures to locate a solid-solid boundary. Although excellent agreement with the available experimental data (to less than or similar to 65 G…
