Autumn herbicides, an efficient chemical tool against ergot of grasses

Maktheshim Agan France analyzed 14 weeding trials, carried out in 2011-2012, to identify the indirect effect of weeding on the development of ergot. Field trials were set up on straw cereals (rye, wheat and triticale), with a contamination of ergot sclerotia and artificial infestation of grassy weeds susceptible to sulfonylureas. Two herbicides: isoproturon and chlortoluron, used alone or followed by a sulfonylurea, were compared to untreated control. All the assessments show that herbicides decreased the amount of sclerotia and even more the alkaloid content in harvest. Several species of Claviceps, mainly Claviceps purpurea may develop during cereals growth in place of grains or on the grass weeds head. These fungi may produce sclerotia with alkaloids inside, unsafe for the whole harvest. In order to help growers and grain collect organizations to support good practices, several years trials have been followed up. Synthesis for those data allows to identify strong grass weeds incidence, mainly for black-grass and ryegrass on ergot of cereal contamination, multiplication and maintain.
Crossover, double-blind clinical trial comparing almotriptan and ergotamine plus caffeine for acute migraine therapy

In this randomized, double-blind, crossover clinical trial, adult patients treated two migraine attacks: one with almotriptan 12.5 mg and the other with ergotamine 2 mg plus caffeine 200 mg. Treatment with almotriptan was associated with a significantly greater proportion of patients achieving 2-h pain free (20.9% vs. 13.7%; P < 0.05) and 2-h pain relief (57.7% vs. 44.5%; P < 0.01) compared with ergotamine plus caffeine therapy; significant differences were not seen at 1 h. This dissertation examines the impact that the materiality of institutions has on patients and staff. Fieldwork has been carried out at five district psychiatric centres (Distriktspsykiatriske sentra, DPS) that were originally built as tuberculosis institutions. The patients’ and employees’ experiences of being present in the physical and social space of these institutions has been examined, interpreted and reflected upon. The paper provides knowledge about the significance institutions’ materiality and inner life has on the informants, and how the informants influence the materiality.
