Origin based classification of crude oils by infrared spectrometry and chemometrics

Abstract Crude oil samples from different Iranian petrol resources in both, raw and mixture forms have been characterized by attenuated total reflectance mid infrared spectroscopy. Obtained spectra were classified by chemometric techniques to propose a method for geological based classification of crude oil samples. Totally 251 samples from 7 petrol fields and 3 mixtures were analyzed. Mean centering and principal component analysis (PCA) supported – leverage value based outlier detection were used as preprocessing approaches. In the context of interpretive chromatographic optimisation, robustness is usually calculated by introducing deliberated shifts in the nominal optimal conditions and evaluating their effects on the monitored objective function, mimicking thus the experimental procedures used in method validation. El escritor norteamericano H.P. Lovecraft, considerado como figura clave del género de terror, ha ejercido una enorme influencia en la cultura popular, fundamentalmente en la literatura y el cine. Este influjo es notorio en el cine fantástico, especialmente en la creación de personajes y ambientes perturbadores. Pese a que la adaptación de sus obras a la gran pantalla no ha sido convincente, películas de ciencia ficción como Alien y La cosa consiguieron impactar con su poderoso imaginario y rendirle tributo. The classical Hollywood cinema had a strange relationship with the representation of the body in pain. Violence, death and, especially, the corops is basically avoided. Nevertheless, it is by no means absent. A rhetoric of elipsis and limits is easy to analyze in the hrror film. This text deals with the representatin of corpses in one of the most obscure and dark films of the 1940s, namely, The body snatcher (produced by Val Lewton and directed by Robert Wise, 1945)

A diferencia del resurgir animista que orienta buena parte de las películas de terror modernas, La mosca (David Cronenberg, 1986) presenta una convergencia entre los temas que ocupan a la biología y la genética y las fantasías de despedazamiento del cuerpo humano. Utilizando como soporte la idea de metamorfosis, La mosca se revela como fa cara despiadada de esa otra fantasía de cuerpos ligeros y bien formaados de la que nos habla la publicidad. La tesis de este artículo consiste en sostener que entre ambas fantasías (del cuerpo ideal y de despedazamiento y descomposición) existe un secreto vínculo que orienta nuestra llamada sensibilidad postmoderna.

The Hollywood star system always had a counterface in the horror films. The actors and actresses deemd to embody the characters depicted in the movies were not especially versatile and, generally speaking, they were limited to these roles and genre. In these cases a more profound identification between stars and characters was at stake. These mechanisms are analyzed in this text focusing in modern horror movies and stars.

Debates with Small Transparent Quantum Verifiers

We study a model where two opposing provers debate over the membership status of a given string in a language, trying to convince a weak verifier whose coins are visible to all. We show that the incorporation of just two qubits to an otherwise classical constant-space verifier raises the class of debatable languages from at most NP to the collection of all Turing-decidable languages (recursive languages). When the verifier is further constrained to make the correct decision with probability 1, the corresponding class goes up from the regular languages up to at least E.
