This is the case of the works collected in Las vueltas 1965 originally written in 1947, 1960 and 1964, and of Max Aub’s story “El remate” 1965, of “El regreso”, by Francisco Ayala 1948 and of the novel La raíz rota by Arturo Barea 1951. Recent literary manifestos claim that “the center is no longer the center” (Le Devoir 2007). Indeed, it is generally admitted that Quebec literature has been more or less independent from the French field since the 1970’s. The purpose of this paper is to show how the Catalan spoken in the south Valencian region is reacting to the effects of the linguistic normalization process that was initiated more than ten years ago. Basically, this process concentrated on two areas: on the one hand, education, where Catalan is present either as a compulsory subject, or as the language in which the whole teaching takes place; on the other hand, the spreading of several mass media which more or less use the language. This paper focuses on the health reforms during the republican Spain (1931-1939) and the crisis derived from the three-year of civil war. It considers how the war affected the health system and the impairment of health conditions of the population during the late 1930s, considering the changing conditions caused by the conflict. Some of the specific topics analysed are the changing healthcare system, the adaptation of health organization after the outbreak of the war, the impact of the war on the health of the population and epidemiological changes, the problem of the refugees and the clinical studies by experts, mainly on undernourishment.

En la última década se han consolidado en España nuevos estilos culturales con los que representar el pasado reciente, en estrecha relación con la emergencia de los debates en torno a la llamada memoria histórica y con el desarrollo contemporáneo de las industrias culturales. Esos estilos han llegado a estandarizar una serie de procedimientos de composición y efectos textuales que permiten que el público los identifique con las estéticas de la memoria. El testimonio, como forma paraliteraria y discurso cívico, ha alcanzado un lugar de excepción en esa estandarización de las estéticas de memoria, pero su uso mecanizado ha privilegiado su rentabilidad dramática sobre su potencial crítico.
El sitio de Max Aub en el campo literario: la ubicación de un clásico

En el campo literario, la acción conjunta de determinadas instancias de mediación y de consagración puede favorecer la ocupación de un lugar privilegiado y, por consiguiente, posibilita que se logre una posición de relieve en el sistema de producción y circulación de bienes simbólicos, en virtud de la jerarquía que va del reconocimiento a la exclusión. Así, el legado de Max Aub, hoy considerado un clásico contemporáneo, se aborda aquí con el fin de explicar cómo una obra se sitúa en el canon más allá de la desaparición de su autor, qué puede condicionar su variabilidad y qué instancias la amparan, interaccionan a su favor y la legitiman en el campo literario.
