Abstract Based on a critical interpretative review of existing qualitative research investigating accounts of ‘lived experience’ of surrogates and intended parents from a relational perspective, this article proposes a typology of surrogacy arrangements. The review is based on the analysis of 39 articles, which belong to a range of different disciplines (mostly sociology, social psychology, anthropology, ethnology, and gender studies). The number of interviews in each study range from as few as seven to over one hundred. The aim of this ethnographic and autoethnographic research was to explore what kind of a learning culture existed in an 8th grade English class in a Finnish basic education school in the 2011-2012 academic year. The class was taught jointly by a subject teacher and a special education teacher. In this paper I review and compare the main sources of information about the ka’ulayawaa festivals among the Wayùu, an Amerindian people inhabiting in the semiarid Guajira peninsula (Northern Colombia and Venezuela). For their peculiar mix of songs, dances, imitative plays and competitive games, inserted into a same festive framework, these festivals are particularly interesting to be studied as expressive metacommentaries (in the sense of Turner) of Wayùu social structures, cultural values and worldview. Tutkimuksen teon lähtökohtana oli fenomenologinen etnografia, jossa tutkitaan yhden luokan oppilaiden omia käsityksiä turvallisuudesta. Aarne Mäkelä tutki väitöstyössään peruskoulun johtamista ja rehtorin tehtäviä. This study investigates social exclusion from peer interaction and relationships among children in one Finnish daycare center. Social exclusion is a multifaceted phenomenon that can be encountered as a result of for instance peer exclusion or social withdrawal. Persistent social exclusion can have severe negative consequences. However, social exclusion is also an inevitable part of social life. This study discusses the multiplicity of this phenomenon in one daycare center. This study is a micro-ethnography. I wrote notes and video-recorded the everyday life of two child groups for 12 days.
