Selective Lanthanides Sequestration Based on a Self-Assembled Organosilica

2010

International audience; In this paper, we investigate the cation-exchange properties of a self-assembled hybrid material towards trivalent ions, lanthanides (La3+,Eu3+, Gd3+,Yb3+) and Fe3+. The bis-zwitter- ionic lamellar material was prepared by sol-gel process from only 3-amino- propyltriethoxysilane (APTES), succin- ic anhydride, and ethylenediamine. In ethanol heated under reflux, the ex- change ethylenediammonium versus Ln3+ proved to be complete by com- plexometry measurements and elemen- tal analyses, one Cl ion per one LnIII remaining as expected for charge bal- ance. In aqueous solution at 20 8C, the material was found to be selective to- wards lanthanide in spite of the similar- i…

Ligand mediated structural diversity of copper(II)-azido moiety: Synthesis, structure and magnetic study

2022

Abstract Two copper azido complexes [Cu4(L1)4(µ1,1-N3)3(N3)] (1) and [{Cu2(L2)(N-benzylen)(µ1,1-N3)3(µ1,1,3-N3(N3)]n (2) have been synthesized by the reaction of aqueous solution of sodium azide to a methanolic solution of copper perchlorate hexahydrate and corresponding Schiff-base ligands. Schiff bases HL1 and HL2 act as blocking coligands are derived from the 1:1 condensation of N-benzyl ethylenediamine with Salicyldehyde and 2-hydroxy-5-chloroacetophenone respectively (N-benzylen is the N-benzyl ethylenediamine). These two complexes are characterized by the elemental analysis, FT-IR, single crystal X-ray diffraction, powder XRD and also TGA. Single crystal X-ray structural study reveals…

A new hyaluronic acid pH sensitive derivative obtained by ATRP for potential oral administration of proteins

2013

Atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) has been successfully employed to obtain a new derivative of hyaluronic acid (HA) able to change its solubility as a function of external pH and then to be potentially useful for intestinal release of bioactive molecules, included enzymes and proteins. In particular, a macroinitiator has been prepared by linking 2-bromo-2-methypropionic acid (BMP) to the amino groups of ethylenediamino derivative of tetrabutyl ammonium salt of HA (HA-TBA-EDA). This macroinititor, named HA-TBA-EDA-BMP has been used for the ATRP of sodium methacrylate (MANa) using a complex of Cu(I) and 2,2'-bipyridyl (Byp) as a catalyst. The resulting copolymer, named HA-EDA-BMP-MA…

Fluorinated and pegylated polyaspartamide derivatives to increase solubility and efficacy of Flutamide

2012

New fluorinated amphiphilic copolymers based on a biocompatible polyaspartamide have been prepared in order to obtain polymeric micelles useful for delivering anticancer drugs. In particular, α,β-poly(N-2-hydroxyethyl)-d,l-aspartamide (PHEA) has been derivatized with polyethylene glycol (PEG(2000)) and ethylendiamine (EDA). Both these portions form the hydrophilic part of the copolymer, while the hydrophobic moiety is given by 1,2,4-oxadiazoles: 5-pentafluorophenyl-3-perfluoroheptyl-1,2,4-oxadiazole (PPOX) or 3-carboxyethyl-5-pentadecafluoroheptyl-1,2,4-oxadiazole (CPOX). Copolymers named PHEA-PEG(2000)-EDA-PPOX and PHEA-PEG(2000)-EDA-CPOX have been prepared with various degrees of derivati…

Degradable poly(amidoamine) hydrogels as scaffolds for in vitro culturing of peripheral nervous system cells.

2012

This paper reports on the synthesis and physico-chemical, mechanical, and biological characterization of two sets of poly(amidoamine) (PAA) hydrogels with potential as scaffolds for in vivo peripheral nerve regeneration. They are obtained by polyaddition of piperazine with N,N′-methylenebis(acrylamide) or 1,4-bis(acryloyl)piperazine with 1,2-diaminoethane as cross-linking agent and exhibit a combination of relevant properties, such as mechanical strength, biocompatibility, biodegradability, ability to induce adhesion and proliferation of Schwann cells (SCs) preserving their viability. Moreover, the most promising hydrogels, that is those deriving from 1,4-bis(acryloyl)piperazine, allow the …

SYNTHESIS AND CHARACTERIZATION OF POLYAMINOACIDIC POLYCATIONS FOR GENE DELIVERY

2005

The properties as non viral gene vector of a protein-like polymer, the alpha,beta-poly(N-2-hydroxyethyl)-d,l-aspartamide (PHEA) were exploited after its derivatization with 3-(carboxypropyl)trimethyl-ammonium chloride (CPTA) as molecule bearing a cationic group, in order to obtain stable polycations able to condense DNA. PHEA was firstly functionalized with aminic pendant groups by reaction with ethylenediamine (EDA) obtaining the alpha,beta-poly(N-2-hydroxyethyl)(2-aminoethylcarbamate)-d,l-aspartamide (PHEA-EDA) copolymer. We demonstrated that polymer functionalization degree is easily modulable by varying reaction conditions, so allowing to produce two PHEA-EDA derivatives at different mo…

Preparation and evaluation of butyl acrylate-based monolithic columns for CEC using ammonium peroxodisulfate as a chemical initiator.

2008

Acrylate-ester-based monoliths for CEC using peroxodisulfate as a chemical initiator were prepared. The influence of two ternary porogenic solvents on the physical and chromatographic properties of butyl acrylate monolithic stationary phases was investigated. The composition and the ratio of porogenic solvent were adjusted to obtain highly permeable rigid monoliths with adequate column efficiency. Among the prepared butyl acrylate monoliths, those polymerized from a ternary porogenic solvent of acetonitrile/ethanol/water exhibited the most promising performance with a minimum plate height for naphthalene of 10.5 microm and a bed permeability of 7.3 x 10(-14) m(2). A comparison in terms of e…

Structural and CO [sub] 2 capture properties of ethylenediamine-modified HKUST-1 metal-organic framework

2020

The high structural and compositional flexibility of metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) shows their great potential for CO2 capture and utilization in accordance with the environmental guidelines of low-carbon technology developments. HKUST-1 as one of the most intensively studied representatives of MOFs for such purposes excels because of its simplicity of production and high ability to tune its intrinsic properties by various functionalization processes. In the present work, ethylenediamine functionalization was performed for the first time in order to thoroughly investigate the amine sorption sites’ impact on the CO2 capture performance of HKUST-1. The placement of ethylenediamine moieties …

Dramatic selectivity differences in the association of DNA and RNA models with new ethylene- and propylene diamine derivatives and their copper compl…

2006

The affinities of polyamines consisting of ethylenediamine units equipped with either one or two terminal naphthyl-, anthryl-, or acridyl units towards PolyA.PolyU as an RNA model, and Poly(dA).Poly(dT) as a DNA model are screened by measuring the melting point changes (DeltaT(m)) of the double strands, and also partially by a fluorimetric binding assay using ethidium bromide. The larger aromatic moieties with long spacers between them allow bisintercalation; this leads to an increased preference for DNA in comparison to RNA, where ion pairing of the ammonium centers with the major RNA groove phosphates dominates. Allosteric affinity control by metalation is achieved e.g. with Cu(2+) ions, …
