The recent judgment of the Grand Chamber of the European Court of Human Rights in Strand Lobben and others v. Norway raises, among others, two interesting reflections. First, it expressly requires a balance between the best interest of the child and other rights, such as the parents’ interest to the maintenance of family relationships. However, the conclusion reached by the Court – finding a violation of art. 8 of the Convention only in respect of its procedural aspect – does not match with the premises. Comparison of Road Safety Policy Objectives in Poland and in the European Union

The aim of the chapter is to identify main actions undertaken within the Polish road safety policy and to assess its efficacy based on the system approach, as well as to present recommendations for enhancing road safety in Poland. In the first part of the chapter key objectives of the EU road safety policy are elaborated. Then, the situation in Poland related to the number of road fatalities and to the causes of accidents is described, and policy instruments in Poland are presented. In the last part of the text an attempt is made to evaluate the Polish road safety policy. Besides, recommendations for improving road safety performance in Poland are elaborated on. The aim of this research is to find a solution for the standardization of road signs in the EU zone by a comparative analysis of different national sign systems to establish a common set from a single country. This work is based on the idea that road sign standardization might increase the safety level of transnational journeys and foster the relationships among the various members of the EU Community. Celem opracowania jest zbadanie relacji między poziomem konkurencyjności rolnictwa w poszczególnych krajach Unii Europejskiej a przeciętną wielkością produkcji rolnej z 1 ha użytków rolnych. Dodatkowo w pracy podjęto próbę określenia charakteru przestrzennych zmian wielkości produkcji rolnej w podziale na sektory. Wyniki opracowano na podstawie metody zmian konkurencyjności Estebana-Marquillasa, która pozwala na diagnostykę potencjału produkcyjnego rolnictwa regionu. W szczególności analiza ta pozwoliła na wskazanie regionów wyspecjalizowanych oraz charakteru zmian strukturalnych w zakresie badanego zjawiska. Artykuł porusza istotną kwestię jaką jest wpływ migracji na rynek pracy w Polsce. W sytuacji wysokiego bezrobocia i braku perspektyw na znalezienie pracy w kraju wielu Polaków zdecydowało się na emigrację. Zjawisko to przybrało na sile po wstąpieniu naszego kraju do Unii Europejskiej. Emigrowali głównie ludzie młodzi i stosunkowo dobrze wykształceni. Lawina emigrantów spowodowała „lukę podażową” na rynku pracy. Dla rozwijającej się polskiej gospodarki stanowi to istotny problem, gdyż okazuje się,że pomimo bezrobocia, które obecnie jest najniższe od czasu transformacji ustrojowej, w wielu sektorach brakuje „rąk do pracy”.
