Europium doped zirconia luminescence

2010

Abstract The luminescence properties and crystalline structure of ZrO2:Eu nanocrystals doped with different concentrations of Eu were studied. Luminescence from the Eu2+ state was not observed even if the electrons and holes were created up to ∼1019 cm−3; thus it was suggested the Eu3+ was not an efficient trap for electrons possibly due to Eu3+ negative charge relative to the crystalline lattice. The mutual interaction between Eu3+ ions was not strong up to 5 at.% concentration. The stabilization of ZrO2 tetragonal as well as cubic structure by Eu3+ is possible.

Studies of radiation defects in cerium, europium and terbium activated oxyfluoride glasses and glass ceramics

2015

Abstract Terbium, cerium and europium activated oxyfluoride glasses and glass ceramics have been studied by thermally stimulated luminescence (TSL) and optical absorption techniques after the X-ray irradiation. A creation of colour centres in oxyfluoride glass matrix and TSL peaks depending on the activator type were observed. LaF 3 and rare earth activators were analysed by SEM–EDS.

Solution-processed thin films based on sandwich-type mixed (phthalocyaninato)(porphyrinato) europium triple-deckers: Structures and comparative perfo…

2012

The solution-processed thin films of a series of three sandwich-type mixed (phthalocyaninato)(porphyrinato) europium complexes with different numbers of hydroxyl groups at the meso-substituted phenyl groups of porphyrin ligand 1–3 were prepared by a quasi-Langmuir–Shafer (QLS) method. Examination by spectroscopic methods revealed that J-type aggregates have been formed with the increasing degree of order of molecular stacking 1 < 2 < 3 films. The IR and XRD results reveal that, a dimeric supramolecular structure was formed depending mainly on the π–π interaction between the tetrapyrrole cores of neighboring triple-decker molecules, which, as the building blocks, self-assembled into the targ…

Synchrotron radiation studies on luminescence of Eu2+-doped LaCl3 microcrystals embedded in a NaCl matrix

2012

Abstract LaCl3:Eu2+ microcrystals dispersed in the NaCl matrix have been obtained in the NaCl–LaCl3(1 mol.%)–EuCl3(0.1 mol.%) crystalline system. The low-temperature luminescent properties of these microcrystals have been studied upon the VUV and UV excitation by the synchrotron radiation. The spectroscopic parameters as well as decay time constants of Eu2+-doped LaCl3 host have been established. The excitation mechanism of divalent europium centers through energy transfer and reabsorption is discussed.

Production of refractory elements close to the Z=N line using the ion-guide technique

1998

Production of neutron-deficient isotopes of refractory elements in the A = 80-88 region was studied using the IGISOL technique and the 165 MeV Si-32 + Ni-nat reaction. Radioactive isotopes of Y through Mo could be produced up to the M-T = + 1 line. New information on the decay of the A = 82 and 85 nuclei, including a more detailed decay scheme and more accurate half-life for Y-82, was obtained. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science B.V. Verwey-type transition in EuNiP

2006

High temperature 151Eu Mossbauer measurements provide proof for inhomogeneous mixed-valent behaviour in EuNiP. We observed that EuNiP undergoes a Verwey-type charge delocalisation transition when heated above 470 K prior to the structural γ-β phase transition at T ≈ 510 K. This finding confirms the results of photoemission spectroscopy in the isostructural compound EuPdP and of TB-LMTO-ASA band structure calculations. We discuss the role of a van Hove singularity associated with a high density of 4f states close to the Fermi energy in inhomogeneous mixed europium valency, and the microscopic mechanism of γ-β phase transition in compounds analogous to EuNiP.
