Tutkimuksen tavoitteena on pyrkiä ymmärtämään lähisuhdeväkivaltaan liittyviä haasteita ammattilaisten näkökulmasta. Female survivors’ experiences of authorities’ actions in cases of partner stalking

Previous studies have shown that civil authorities fail to understand the nature of stalking and the harmful consequences it causes victims. The aim of this study was to investigate how the victims of partner stalking had perceived the actions of civil authorities and the stalking investigation process. The data were drawn from conversations among members of an internet-based peer support group for female victims of partner stalking. Violence against women (VAW) is a global social problem. In India, its high prevalence is connected to gender inequality, whereas Finland suffers from the so-called Nordic Paradox—that is, the existence of both gender equality and a high prevalence of VAW. This qualitative study employed a critical constructioniist approach and frame analysis to analyze data from interviews with Finnish (n =20) and Mumbai (n =18) social workers. We asked how social workers frame their response to VAW and how ways of framing elucidate institutional practices that facilitate the interventions. Domestic Homicide and Emotions from the Late Nineteenth Century to the 1920s

Some scholars have suggested that a significant change in homicides and interpersonal violence occurred in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. This new type of violence was characterised by strong feelings between the offender and their victim, and the change was connected to modernisation, changes in power balance between men and women, and individualism. Based on the Court of Appeal documents, we deduced that the murder of one’s spouse, father, or brother were the most prevalent homicides within families in Finland at the time. Attitudes and motivation in the treatment of IPV : a case study of two intimately violent men

This case study used qualitative content analysis to examine the cases of two intimately violent men. Both participated in a group intervention but experienced dramatically different outcomes. In the case of "Henri", the intervention was especially successful, but in the case of "Mikael" it was unsuccessful. The data of this study consisted of the video tapes of the men’s therapy sessions, and of the interviews of their spouses.
