The Influence of Behavioral Factors on Insurance Decision – A Romanian Approach

2013

Abstract Although the classical economic theory postulates that individuals should make perfectly rational choices that take into account all the available information, I will present, in the following, the action of behavioral factors on the decisions regarding the insurance against certain events. I will analyze the elements that determine a person who should be covered against a risk, not to buy insurance and the reverse situation when, although the likelihood of the event is reduced, a person will secure against the damage(s) caused by it. In this paper I developed a general approach of the behavioral factors with specific reference to the Romanian market .Finally, I will suggest the in…

Less Data Same Information for Event-Based Sensors: A Bioinspired Filtering and Data Reduction Algorithm

2018

Sensors provide data which need to be processed after acquisition to remove noise and extract relevant information. When the sensor is a network node and acquired data are to be transmitted to other nodes (e.g., through Ethernet), the amount of generated data from multiple nodes can overload the communication channel. The reduction of generated data implies the possibility of lower hardware requirements and less power consumption for the hardware devices. This work proposes a filtering algorithm (LDSI&mdash

The clinical significance of small, dense low-density lipoproteins

2006

Peak size of low-density lipoproteins (LDL) in humans does not show a normal, but a bimodal distribution and can be separated into two phenotypes, that differ in size, density, physicochemical composition, metabolic behavior, and atherogenicity. These phenotypes have been assigned as pattern A when larger, more buoyant LDL and pattern B when smaller, more dense LDL predominate. Small dense LDL correlates negatively with plasma HDL levels and positively with plasma triglyceride concentrations and is associated with the metabolic syndrome and increased risk for cardiovascular disease. LDL size seems to be an important predictor of cardiovascular events and progression of coronary heart diseas…

In this review, state-of-the-art evidence on the relationship between cannabis use, traffic crash risks, and driving safety were analyzed. Systematic reviews, meta-analyses, and other relevant papers published within the last decade were systematically searched and synthesized. Findings show that meta-analyses and culpability studies consistently indicate a slightly but significantly increased risk of crashes after acute cannabis use. These risks vary across included study type, crash severity, and method of substance application and measurement. Some studies show a significant correlation between high THC blood concentrations and car crash risk. Most studies do not support this relationshi…

Medication-Related Osteonecrosis of Jaws (MRONJ) Prevention and Diagnosis: Italian Consensus Update 2020

2020

The Medication-Related Osteonecrosis of Jaws (MRONJ) diagnosis process and its prevention play a role of great and rising importance, not only on the Quality of Life (QoL) of patients, but also on the decision-making process by the majority of dentists and oral surgeons involved in MRONJ prevention (primary and secondary). The present paper reports the update of the conclusions from the Consensus Conference—held at the Symposium of the Italian Society of Oral Pathology and Medicine (SIPMO) (20 October 2018, Ancona, Italy)—after the newest recommendations (2020) on MRONJ were published by two scientific societies (Italian Societies of Maxillofacial Surgery and Oral Pathology and Medicine, SI…

Femoral kontroll blant idrettsaktive kvinner : testutvikling og sammenheng med skadehistorikk

2011

Masteroppgave i idrettsvitenskap- Universitetet i Agder 2011 Purpose: Non-contact knee injuries are often the topic of discussion in relation to injury prevention. The purpose of this study was to develop a standardized test and a standardized analysis method for quantifying changes in the femoral control in a simple but reliable way. We also wanted to quantify the relationship between femoral control and injury history in the sample. Method: Female athletes (n = 95, age = 18 ± 1 years old) who were active in various sports, conducted two weak links test and answered a questionnaire regarding their history of lower limb injury. Weak links were defined as inward rotation and / or abduction o…

Treatment with soluble activin type IIB-receptor improves bone mass and strength in a mouse model of Duchenne muscular dystrophy

2017

Background: Inhibition of activin/myostatin pathway has emerged as a novel approach to increase muscle mass and bone strength. Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) is a neuromuscular disorder that leads to progressive muscle degeneration and also high incidence of fractures. The aim of our study was to test whether inhibition of activin receptor IIB ligands with or without exercise could improve bone strength in the mdx mouse model for DMD. Methods: Thirty-two mdx mice were divided to running and non-running groups and to receive either PBS control or soluble activin type IIB-receptor (ActRIIB-Fc) once weekly for 7 weeks. Results: Treatment of mdx mice with ActRIIB-Fc resulted in significantly…

Exploring the elements for value co-creation in consumer information systems in B2B context : a case study on the business event industry

2014

Tämä tutkielma tarkastelee arvon yhteisluontia verkkopalvelussa B2B-kontekstissa käyttäen tutkimuksen toimialana kaupallisia seminaareja ja koulutuksia. Viitekehyksenä tutkimuksessa käytetään arvon yhteisluonnin mallia kuluttajatietojärjestelmissä (CIS), jolla nähdään ammatillisten seminaarien ja koulutusten järjestäjien ja osallistujien (n=22) arvoja ja motivaatioita tapahtumiin osallistumiseen sekä tutkitaan myös mitkä ominaisuudet koetaan tarpeelliseksi toimialan tapahtumien promootioon perustuvaan verkkopalveluun. Tutkimuksen tavoitteena on tunnistaa arvon yhteisluonnin elementit sekä mahdollisia eroavaisuuksia verkkopalvelun B2B-käyttäjän käyttötarpeissa sekä järjestelmän käyttökokemuk…
