FLUORINATED DERIVATIVES OF A POLYASPARTAMIDE BEARING POLYETHYLENE GLYCOL CHAINS AS OXYGEN CARRIERS

2008

Abstract In this paper the synthesis and characterization of new fluorinated polymers based on a polyaspartamide bearing polyethylene glycol (PEG) chains, are reported. The starting material was the α,β-poly(N-2-hydroxyethyl)- dl -aspartamide (PHEA), a water soluble and biocompatible polymer, that has been derivatized with both polyethylene glycol (with a molecular weight of 2000 Da) and 5-pentafluorophenyl-3-perfluoroheptyl-1,2,4-oxadiazole. By varying the amount of the fluorinated oxadiazole, three samples have been prepared and characterized by FT-IR, 1H NMR, 19F NMR and UV–VIS spectroscopy. Size exclusion chromatography analysis of these copolymers revealed the occurrence of a self-asso…

Cosmological bounds on neutrino statistics

2018

We consider the phenomenological implications of the violation of the Pauli exclusion principle for neutrinos, focusing on cosmological observables such as the spectrum of Cosmic Microwave Background anisotropies, Baryon Acoustic Oscillations and the primordial abundances of light elements. Neutrinos that behave (at least partly) as bosonic particles have a modified equilibrium distribution function that implies a different influence on the evolution of the Universe that, in the case of massive neutrinos, can not be simply parametrized by a change in the effective number of neutrinos. Our results show that, despite the precision of the available cosmological data, only very weak bounds can …

Reactivity of anticancer metallodrugs with serum proteins: New insights from size exclusion chromatography-ICP-MS and ESI-MS

2010

International audience; A method based on the coupling of high resolution size-exclusion liquid chromatography using a polymer stationary phase with inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry was developed to study the interactions of two metallodrugs - cisplatin and RAPTA-T - with the serum proteins albumin and transferrin. In contrast to previous approaches, the technique allowed the total recovery of the metals from the column and was able to discriminate between the different species of the metallodrugs and their complexes with the proteins at femtomolar detection levels. Metal binding was found to be dependent on the protein concentration and on the incubation time of the sample. Cis…

Production and characterisation of recombinant forms of human pulmonary surfactant protein C (SP-C):Structure and surface activity

2006

Udgivelsesdato: 2006-Apr Surfactant protein C (SP-C) is an essential component for the surface tension-lowering activity of the pulmonary surfactant system. It contains a valine-rich alpha helix that spans the lipid bilayer, and is one of the most hydrophobic proteins known so far. SP-C is also an essential component of various surfactant preparations of animal origin currently used to treat neonatal respiratory distress syndrome (NRDS) in preterm infants. The limited supply of this material and the risk of transmission of infectious agents and immunological reactions have prompted the development of synthetic SP-C-derived peptides or recombinant humanized SP-C for inclusion in new prepar…

Utenfor og innenfor : En kvalitativ studie av skolen som sosial arena – og dens betydning for ungdoms psykiske helse

2017

Masteroppgave psykisk helsearbeid ME504 - Universitetet i Agder 2017 Background Exclusion still have good conditions in school today. In this study, mental health and quality of life are seen in relation to school as a social arena and from the youth's perspective. Aim and research question I want to contribute to creating opportunities for new practices in school, in the way they work with mental health and quality of life. Research question: What importance has school as a social arena, when youth who have sought mental health care and the people in the network describe the difficulties - and change for the better? Method The study has a hermeneutical phenomenological approach. The main m…

Experimental evidence of pharmacological management of anchorage in Orthodontics: A systematic review

2015

Introduction: Orthodontic anchorage is one of the most challenging aspects of Orthodontics. Preventing undesired movement of teeth could result in safer and less complicated orthodontic treatment. Recently, several reviews have been published about the effects of different molecules on bone physiology and the clinical side effects in Orthodontics. However, the effects of local application of these substances on the rate of orthodontic tooth movement have not been assessed. Objectives: The aim of this research was to analyze the scientific evidence published in the literature about the effects of different molecules on orthodontic anchorage. Methods: The literature was systematically reviewed …

Stochastic Loss of Silencing of the Imprinted Ndn/NDN Allele, in a Mouse Model and Humans with Prader-Willi Syndrome, Has Functional Consequences

2013

Genomic imprinting is a process that causes genes to be expressed from one allele only according to parental origin, the other allele being silent. Diseases can arise when the normally active alleles are not expressed. In this context, low level of expression of the normally silent alleles has been considered as genetic noise although such expression has never been further studied. Prader-Willi Syndrome (PWS) is a neurodevelopmental disease involving imprinted genes, including NDN, which are only expressed from the paternally inherited allele, with the maternally inherited allele silent. We present the first in-depth study of the low expression of a normally silent imprinted allele, in path…

AAZTA5-squaramide ester competing with DOTA-, DTPA- and CHX-A″-DTPA-analogues: Promising tool for 177Lu-labeling of monoclonal antibodies under mild …

2021

Abstract Background Combining the advantages of both cyclic and acyclic chelator systems, AAZTA (1,4-bis(carboxymethyl)-6-[bis(carboxymethyl)]amino-6-methylperhydro-1,4-diazepine) is well suited for complexation of various diagnostic and therapeutic radiometals such as gallium-68, scandium-44 and lutetium-177 under mild conditions. Due to its specificity for primary amines and pH dependent binding properties, squaric acid (SA) represents an excellent tool for selective coupling of the appropriate chelator to different target vectors. Therefore, the aim of this study was to evaluate radiolabeling properties of the novel bifunctional AAZTA5-SA being coupled to a model antibody (bevacizumab) i…
