Usually, natural theology is understood as the project of providing arguments for the existence of God. This project is endorsed by Moreland and Craig. McGrath, on the other hand, says that this project fails. In the first part of this article, I show how McGrath’s dismissal of arguments for the existence of God follows from his view of natural theology. In the second part, I argue that McGrath’s natural theology contains an accurate critique of Moreland and Craig’s way of doing natural theology, a critique that exposes two major problems in their treatment of the moral argument for the existence of God. Controlled polyhedral sweeping processes: existence, stability, and optimality conditions

This paper is mainly devoted to the study of controlled sweeping processes with polyhedral moving sets in Hilbert spaces. Based on a detailed analysis of truncated Hausdorff distances between moving polyhedra, we derive new existence and uniqueness theorems for sweeping trajectories corresponding to various classes of control functions acting in moving sets. Then we establish quantitative stability results, which provide efficient estimates on the sweeping trajectory dependence on controls and initial values. Evidence of oblate-prolate shape coexistence in the strongly-deformed nucleus 119Cs

International audience; Prolate-oblate shape coexistence close to the ground state in the strongly-deformed proton-rich A≈120 nuclei is reported for the first time. One of the four reported bands in 119Cs, built on a 11/2− state at 670 keV, consists of nearly degenerate signature partners, and has properties which unequivocally indicate the strongly-coupled πh11/2[505]11/2− configuration associated with oblate shape. We give a simple geometrical criterion for the nonexistence of constant-sign solutions for a certain type of third-order two-point boundary value problem in terms of the behavior of nonlinearity in the equation. We also provide examples to illustrate the applicability of our results.

Pairing between beer and dishes emerges as a new trend in France. Beer promoters or gastronomy professionals need to offer high-quality advices in terms of beer and food pairing to their customers. Within this context, the objective of the research was to identify pairing principles and to better understand the underlying perceptual mechanisms. Determinants of food and beverage pairing were first analysed from experts’ discourses. Results showed that food and beverage pairings are governed by perceptual, conceptual and affective features, related to physio-chemical, perceptual and cognitive processes.
