Traits and emotions

2000

This paper reviews literature on traits and emotions focusing on both structure and management, or 'having' and 'doing'. The cognitive perspective of this paper implies that traits and emotions are viewed as provisions to frame people and their behaviours in situations in meaningful ways. The focus on the structure of traits thus implies considering the now broadly acknowledged Big Five model as a dimensional framework by which traits of people can be meaningfully organized. A similar position is taken with respect to emotions, given the recurrent finding of a two-dimensional model of emotions with Positive Affect and Negative Affect (PA and NA). Maintaining relevant distinctions between tr…

Rola Tradycji w Kościele. Między „archeologizmem” a „entuzjazmem”

2020

The article is an attempt to answer the question about the relation between tradition and the development of theological cognition. The church from the first centuries was aware that allegiance to the council tenets exceeds a technical repetition of council`s formulas. It is clear that a belief in dogma assumes openness to both the past and the future. In the article two approaches to tradition are criticized: archeological and enthusiastic. The first one is linked with attempt to end the possibility of adding to a developing tradition further at any point in history; the second one is a result of conviction that currents form of doctrine and church are exactly what is wanted by God.In refer…

The Port and its Environment

2013

In times of increasing environmental awareness, the port-city relationship has gained a new meaning since ports have been seen as the origin of both negative and positive externalities affecting the public wellbeing. While the former are the result of port expansion, the latter are the result of transforming obsolete port areas into recreational facilities. Therefore, in order to support effective policy-making, in this research is emphasized the need of measuring these environmental externalities. Considering their non-market nature, the contingent valuation method is introduced as an economic tool capable of overcoming this obstacle. Thus, the cases of two ports in Spain, namely Valencia …

Restructuring the defence industry and arms production in Russia

2000

AT THE BEGINNING OF 1997, after five years of failed reforms in the defence industry, there took place a substantial change in the administrative structure running this sector. The Ministry of Economic Affairs took over the restructuring of the defence industry and thereby defined a new way of tackling reforms in this industrial sector. Three elements stand out in the new approach: intersectorality, a predominance of civilian elements and a greater realism. This approach, therefore, represents a break with the idea in force up to that moment of the best way to tackle problems related to the defence industry, which was greatly conditioned by its Soviet heritage. Although two years later this…

IL METODO EDUCATIVO "CENTRATO SULL'EMPATIA"

2013

Empathy is a pedagogic and educative category and justifies the notion of vicarious intentionality defining either the empathy structure or the proper dynamic of the educative process. According to the language of classical philosophy and pedagogy, this essay deals with it as an ethic and dianoetic virtue. The core of the whole becomes the phenomenology of empathy, the analysis of the constitutive intentionalities of such a singular personal virtue: the free disposal, the ethic attitude and the spiritual request.

The impact of multinational banking on domestic banking

2006

Post-Keynesians have made endogenous money a central argument in their theory of output. Indeed, production cannot be undertaken if access to finance, usually meaning bank credit, does not exist. Such access is needed if wages are to be paid, and inputs of production purchased. In a monetary economy, therefore, money is created at the demand of borrowers, supplied by banks.

The Eternal Return of Politics

2003

Politics of Historical Signs In his text The Contest of Faculties, Immanuel Kant makes an attempt to answer the question "Is the human race continually improving?" He identifies such an attempt as belonging to a history of future times. Nevertheless, according to Kant, such a history must start from some sort of experience. He reasons that "[w]e must, therefore, search for an event which would indicate that such a cause exists and that it is causally active within the human race, irrespective of the time at which it might actually operate; and it would have to be a cause which allowed us to conclude, as an inevitable consequence of its operation, that mankind is improving." Moral and Civic Education. The New School’s Contribution

2014

Our aim is to establish a reflexive analysis about the way in which the New Education’s movement understands morality and the way it is meant to be taught, as well as its particular entail with civic education. We offer a synthesis of the investigation, which has its base on some not vey spread primary sources of authors and institutional organs of the movement. With it we clarify the meaning and the ways through which pedagogical currents shaped, in the beginning of the 20th century, a new way of conceiving the practice of these formative areas. We also identify the perspectives of methodological renovation that in this moment arose. These contributions, the result of which are summarized …
