The essay focuses on the film Le mani sulla citta (Hands on the city, 1963) by Francesco Rosi. The film, set in Naples, explores some significant aspects of the Italian "Reconstruction" after the end of the Second World War and offers interesting insights. That period was characterized by a number of active, social and economic, recovery policies which produced job and development opportunities and triggered the development of the real estate market and urban speculation. Matthew Ratcliffe (2008, 2015) has argued that existential feelings form a distinct class of bodily and non-conceptual feelings that pre-intentionally structure our intentional experience of others, the world, and ourselves. In this article, I will identify and discuss three interrelated areas of concern for Ratcliffe’s theory of existential feelings. First, the distinct senses in which existential feelings are felt as background bodily feelings and as spaces of possibility calls for further clarification. This paper addresses discussions in post-Avicennan Arabic logic on various characterizations of metathetic propositions and their status vis-à-vis the existential import condition by focusing on the arguments made by Fakhr al-Dīn al-Rāzī (d. 606/1210) and the counter-arguments by Quṭb al-Dīn al-Rāzī al-Taḥtānī (d. 766/1365), both of whom established their positions in a framework drawn by Avicenna (Ibn Sīnā, d. 428/1037), the most prominent figure in the tradition of classical Arabic logic. Despite the extensive research into coaches’ roles in supporting athletic development and motivation for sport, few studies have examined coaches’ attitudes and practices towards athletes’ dual careers. The present study extends European research into athletes’ dual careers by examining Finnish ice hockey coaches’ attitudes and practices surrounding players’ education. This paper presents a descriptive and comparative study of existential sentences in Flemish Sign Language and Finnish Sign Language. Existential sentences are used to express the existence or presence of something or someone. This study investigates how expressions of existence or presence are constructed and what the order of Figure and Ground is in existential sentences in both languages. Existential sentences can be formed around the lexical signs HEEFT (‘have’) in Flemish Sign Language and OLLA (‘have’) in Finnish Sign Language or the lexical signs can be omitted from the construction. Jean-Paul Sartre’s Critique de la raison dialectique consists of two tomes: La théorie des ensembles pratiques (published in 1960) and L’intelligibilité de l’histoire (published posthumously in 1985). The first tome includes two books: De la «praxis» individuelle au pratico-inerte and Du groupe à l’histoire. Thus Jean-Paul Sartre combines existentialism and historical materialism, referring to the concepts of praxis and of history. The concept of history is the main theme of his work, and it can be understood as a dialectical process in the complex system of the human relationships.
