Brand love and positive word of mouth : the moderating effects of experience and price

2016

Purpose This study aims to test and extend Carroll and Ahuvia’s (2006) model on the antecedents and outcomes of brand love by examining the moderating effects of experience and price on the relationship between brand love and offline word of mouth (WOM) and between brand love and electronic WOM (eWOM). Design/methodology/approach An online survey was conducted on Facebook, which generated 342 valid responses. The data were analyzed using partial least squares-structural equation modeling. Findings The results mainly support the model by confirming that the self-expressiveness of the brand and trust are positively associated with brand love. No association between hedonic product type and b…

Influence of expressive versus mechanical musical performance on short-term memory for musical excerpts

2012

Recognition memory for details of musical phrases (discrimination between targets and similar lures) improves for up to 15 s following the presentation of a target, during continuous listening to the ongoing piece. This is attributable to binding of stimulus features during that time interval. The ongoing-listening paradigm is an ecologically valid approach for investigating short-term memory, but previous studies made use of relatively mechanical MIDI-produced stimuli. The present study assessed whether expressive performances would modulate the previously reported finding. Given that expressive performances introduced slight differences between initially presented targets and their target…

Movement and the Practice of Meaning in Song

2009

This study intends to provide some evidence about the body involvement in the meaning production in song performance. It analyzes body actions that are not basic requirement for sound production, during the elaboration process of an interpretative performance of a work. These actions are observed in relation to structural and emotional-expressive content of the piece. A professional soprano sang an opera aria four successive times (as a rehearsal), making both technical and expressive adjustments and delineating a personal interpretation along the repetitions. Performances were filmed and micro-movements were analyzed assisted by Diglo 12.0 system. The analysis of the climax phrase of the a…

2016

This study deals with the conception of “writing” within the German humanities during the « psychological turn » of the last half of the XIXth - the beginning of the XXth centuries. The focal point is “graphism” and “writing” understood as “expressive movements” (Ausdrucksbewegungen), this notion being bound to the concept of “verbal gesture” within the trend of “psychological linguistics” (1850-1930). Inspired initially by the morphological and physiognomonic tradition (J. Lavater, J. W. Goethe, J. Engel, C. Carus, Th. Piderit), this conception considers language as a particular kind of “expressive movements”. This vision comes back to the German psychology of consciousness elaborated by J…

Un'esperienza di insegnamento in Spagna

2019

Within the 30-hours course of Orientación socioprofesional, 30 students of University of Navarra (Pamplona) enrolled in the five-years degree in Peda- gogía y Educaci…

The role of working memory on writing processes.

2021

Literature has extensively demonstrated the coordination role of working memory (WM) in complex tasks such as writing. However, previous studies mostly concentrated on the relation between passive WM (e.g., WM span) components and specific writing tasks (e.g., dictation). Here, we aimed to investigate the relationship between different writing skills and the performance on a WM updating task measuring the more active components of WM. From a pool of 160 Italian pupils (grades 3–5), we selected 46 children divided in two groups based on their WM updating performance. The first group consisted of 21 children with low WM updating performance (≤10th percentile), the second group consisted of 25…

Development of reading and arithmetic skills across Grades 1 to 4 in two groups of children receiving part-time special education

2021

This study investigated why some Finnish students receive part-time special education in Grade 1, duration of that support, and its relation to student reading fluency, reading comprehension, and arithmetic fluency development. The participants included two groups from Grade 1 receiving part-time special education (1–2 years vs. 3–4 years) and a control group comprising the remaining participants from the study. Teachers identified reading and expressive language difficulties as the main reasons for part-time special education in Grade 1. By Grade 4, students who received support until Grade 1 or 2 caught up the level of the control group especially in reading fluency. Students who had rece…

From stage to brain: Montage as a new principle of scientific narrative

2013

German Dadaists, Italian and Russian Futurists and Constructivists created in their experiments multi-medial orthopedic bodies as products of collage and montage. Sergei Eisenstein, who was influenced by these experiments, organized his theatrical productions as a chain of independent fragments capable of entering any possible combination/recombination and labelled this method “montage of attractions”. He used the same montage principle not only for a new theatrical or cinematic narrative but also to conceptualize the expressive movement of the theatrical or cinematic body created on stage and on screen. Finally he conceptualized montage not only as a means of conveying movement, but also o…

On Diving in Trees Thomas Schwentick

2000

The paper is concerned with queries on tree-structured data. It defines fragments of first-order logic (FO) and FO extended by regular expressions along paths. These fragments have the same expressive power as the full logics themselves. On the other hand, they can be evaluated reasonably efficient, even if the formula which represents the query is considered as part of the input.
