A new member of the fusaricidin family – structure elucidation and synthesis of fusaricidin E

Two hitherto unknown fusaricidins were obtained from fermentation broths of three Paenibacillus strains. After structure elucidation based on tandem mass spectrometry and NMR spectroscopy, fusaricidin E was synthesized to confirm the structure and the suggested stereochemistry. The synthesis was based on a new strategy which includes an efficient access to the 15-guanidino-3-hydroxypentadecanoyl (GHPD) side chain from erucamide.

This study reviewed the socio-economic backgrounds of pupils from various family structures (Monogamous, polygamous, single-parent and orphan children) against their academic performances in Ibadan North-East municipality of Ibadan, Nigeria. The diverse contending studies on how the socio-economic backgrounds of these family structures aid children’s academic attainments were examined. The data for this study was gathered in April, 2012. Background: The traditional model of the ltalian family, the married couple with children, is suffering a declining trend and many other family types are imposing. The aim of this paper is (i) to assess the role of family structure as determinant of perceived health and (ii) to investigate the existence of a geographical gradient of health. Methods: The study is based on data taken from the 2004 EU-SILC survey of Eurostat and regards people living in ltaly, aged 25 years and over.
