The role of university sports federations in enhancing student sports : a comparative case study between Portugal and Finland
2011
The European Union has increasingly emphasized the sociological, physiological and psychological benefits of sport. Sport provision and participation trends have been measured throughout the member-states and, the gaps between Northern and Southern countries are widely acknowledged. These gaps are especially wide between young-adults and the elderly. The integration of sports into the education curriculum in most European pedagogic systems has resulted in high levels of sport practice among the youth. However as young people enter higher education, member-states face a problem with a natural withdrawal in participation. The universities and student sports federations can plan an important r…
Annexation of Crimea – seizure of territories without a declaration of war: realities of the 21st century
2020
The thesis focuses on the main international legal aspects of the annexation by one State, namely the Russian Federation, of a part of another sovereign State, Ukraine. The invading State justifies these actions by referring to the ethnic and historical ties between Russia and Crimea, basing its aggression on the right of peoples to self-determination. The peaceful coexistence of States and various nationalities within the European Union, the United States, Asia and the Middle East is now under threat. This Bachelor thesis aims to study the issue of the forcible seizure of the Crimean Peninsula, t…

Vasoactive peptide urotensin II in plasma is associated with cerebral vasospasm after aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage and constitutes a potential …
2019
National audience; OBJECTIVECerebral vasospasm (VS) is a severe complication of aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH). Urotensin II (UII) is a potent vasoactive peptide activating the urotensin (UT) receptor, potentially involved in brain vascular pathologies. The authors hypothesized that UII/UT system antagonism with the UT receptor antagonist/biased ligand urantide may be associated with post-SAH VS. The objectives of this study were 2-fold: 1) to leverage an experimental mouse model of SAH with VS in order to study the effect of urotensinergic system antagonism on neurological outcome, and 2) to investigate the association between plasma UII level and symptomatic VS after SAH in huma…
