Expresivitatea limbajului popular în romanul haiducesc „Iancu Jianu, zapciu de plasă” și „Iancu Jianu, căpitan de haiduci” de Nicolae D. Popescu
2021
This paper analyzes the expressivity of popular language from the novels ”Iancu Jianu, Head of Administration” and ”Iancu Jianu, Captain of the Hajduks” by N.D. Popescu. The popular language is a language specific aspect, a language version and a main component of the oral version of the national language. In literary works, the popular language has a stylistic purpose. The aesthetic value of the text is the result of the process by which the expressiveness of the writer`s language is converted into an individual literary rule. The stylistic processes and brands encountered in popular language are national specific and they reflect the history, the way of thinking and the feelings of Romani…
The beginning of the modernist novel is been manifested by the increasing interest in t…
Le dialogue de la musique et de la langue dans « Moderato cantabile » de Marguerite Duras
2014
Music in Duras’s works – analysed primarily in terms of intertextuality – is an element that creates the structure and sets the pace of the text. It provides an excuse to present feelings and thoughts of the characters, their hidden desires and yearnings. Music soothes the pain of parting, lets listeners forget about their problems, and brings forward true passions that cannot be put into words. Duras’s fondness of music is manifested by her attitude to reality and her vision of love. A piece of music with its depth and richness in a way reflects the inner self of the author.

The Affective Reception of Tytti Heikkinen’s Poem “Ryhavalaan tasoa” In this article, I analyze the reception of Tytti Heikkinen’s poem ”Ryhavalaan tasoa” (”On par with whales”) from the viewpoint of affectivity. ”Ryhavalaan tasoa” is a Flarf poem which means that it has been made of material found from the internet with weird search terms. Flarf poetry is also based on a kind of aesthetics of ugliness. The poem is a dramatic monologue in which the speaking I – a girl called ”Fatty XL” – talks unrestrainedly and vulgarly about fatness, sexuality and shame. Theoretically, the article relies mainly on Rita Felski’s and Sianne Ngai’s views on affectivity of reading. The research material consi…
Social strategies and loneliness: A prospective study
1997
Abstract The aim of this longitudinal study was to examine whether the feeling of loneliness is rather an antecedent or a consequence of the strategies young adults apply in social situations. To investigate this, university students were asked to fill in the Strategy and Attribution Questionnaire at the beginning of their first and third years at university, and the revised UCLA Loneliness scale at the beginning of their second and fourth years. The results showed that the more the young adults reported the use of a pessimistic-avoidance strategy, the less lonely they were later on. In turn, the more lonely the students were, the less they used an approach-oriented strategy later on. Final…
Cross-lagged associations between study and work engagement dimensions during young adulthood
2014
The present four-wave longitudinal study investigated the cross-lagged associations between three study and work engagement dimensions (e.g. energy, absorption, and dedication) over the transition from post-comprehensive studies to higher education or work. Various antecedents (e.g. gender, GPA) and consequences (e.g. satisfaction in life, education and work, well-being, and educational outcomes) of the three engagement dimensions were also examined. The study is part of the longitudinal Finnish Educational Transitions (FinEdu) study, and followed 851 participants from age 17 to 23. The developmental dynamics showed that, in particular, students’ study- and work-related energy predicted fee…
Longitudinal study on reciprocity between personality traits and parenting stress
2014
Reciprocal associations between the Big Five personality traits and parenting stress—including both parents’ feelings of their distress and perception of their incompetence as parents—were studied with 248 participants (49% of which were males). Longitudinal data, collected at ages 33/36, 42 and 50 years, were used. Cross-lagged path analysis revealed that in case of both mothers and fathers, neuroticism at age 33 predicted high parenting stress, and extraversion at age 33 predicted low parenting stress at age 42. Also, parenting stress at age 36 predicted high neuroticism and low extraversion at age 42. From age 42 to 50, only high parenting stress contributed to low neuroticism. Thus, mo…
Tangibot: A collaborative multiplayer game for pediatric patients
2019
[EN] Background Previous research has studied the effects of games in pediatric wards, but none of it has focused on the impact of the hospital¿s school staff on the psychosocial state of the children nor on the gameplay itself. Methods A study was conducted in a hospital classroom with 20 participants, who participated twice in the game: one with the teacher playing along and another without her. An observational scale was used by two evaluators in order t…
Bryant's Empathy Index: Structure and Measurement Invariance across Gender in a Sample of Primary School-Aged Children.
2016
AbstractThe purpose of this study was to examine the dimensional structure and measurement invariance of Bryant’s Index of Empathy for Children and Adolescents (IECA) (Bryant, 1982) across gender in a representative sample of primary school-aged children in Spain. The sample consisted of 2,050 children (50.80% girls), with a mean age of 9.80 years (SD = 1.24), recruited from 27 primary schools. Exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses were conducted. The model that presented the best fit indices was Lasa, Holgado, Carrasco, and del Barrio’s (2008) three-factor model: Understanding Feelings, Feelings of Sadness, and Tearful Reaction. The levels of internal consistency for the subscales r…
The importance of trait emotional intelligence and feelings in the prediction of perceived and biological stress in adolescents: hierarchical regress…
2017
The purpose of this study is to analyze the combined effects of trait emotional intelligence (EI) and feelings on healthy adolescents' stress. Identifying the extent to which adolescent stress varies with trait emotional differences and the feelings of adolescents is of considerable interest in the development of intervention programs for fostering youth well-being. To attain this goal, self-reported questionnaires (perceived stress, trait EI, and positive/negative feelings) and biological measures of stress (hair cortisol concentrations, HCC) were collected from 170 adolescents (12-14 years old). Two different methodologies were conducted, which included hierarchical regression models and …
