Tutkimuspalaverissa yhdysvaltalaisten kollegojen kanssa jälleen käydään keskustelua julkaisupaikasta artikkelillemme. Joku kysäisee pian ”What about the Finnish Annals?”, johon vastataan yleisesti positiivisin ja myöntyvin myhäilyin. Kansainvälisesti lehti muistetaankin monilla lempinimillä osittain johtuen sen alkuperäisestä pitkästä nimestä ”Annales Academiæ Scientiarum Fennicæ Series A. I. Mathematica”. This paper explicates Husserl’s usage of what he calls “radical Besinnung” in Formale und transzendentale Logik (1929). Husserl introduces radical Besinnung as his method in the introduction to FTL. Radical Besinnung aims at criticizing the practice of formal sciences by means of transcendental phenomenological clarification of its aims and presuppositions. By showing how Husserl applies this method to the history of formal sciences down to mathematicians’ work in his time, the paper explains in detail the relationship between historical critical Besinnung and transcendental phenomenology. Väitöskirjatutkimuksessani Phenomenological Ontology of Breathing tutkin fenomenologisesti hengityksen filosofiaa, so. miten hengittäminen voisi olla filosofinen kysymys ja miten eletty kokemus hengityksestä voisi mahdollisesti avata ja jäsentää meille aivan uuden tavan tehdä filosofiaa. Sense experience and differentiation : Husserl on bodily awareness

This article outlines the basic ingredients of Husserl’s theory of bodily awareness. It first analyses the concepts of hyletic and kinesthetic sensibility, and illustrates the interwovenness and equiprimordiality of Me and not-Me in Husserl’s account. Second, it shows how the concept of the lived body emerges from this complex sensible foundation. Thirdly, it argues that, as the area of intersection between the Me and the not-Me, bodily awareness is the initial locus of differentiation between Me and not-Me: an area where the experiential distinction between the Me and the not-Me is constantly negotiated. peerReviewed

This phenomenological research examines democracy education and the conditions contributing to young students’ democratic agency. The dataset includes interview and observation data from a school and educational decision-makers. The findings from the iterative analysis highlight the contradictions between democracy education as an ideal and opportunities for democratic agency. One significant contradiction was the expectation that young pupils should be competent democratic agents before being offered opportunities to act democratically. "Yksin en selviäisi" : lonkan tekonivelleikattujen kokemuksia kotona selviytymisestä

Tämän fenomenologisen pro gradu -tutkielman tarkoituksena oli kuvata ja ymmärtää lonkan tekonivelleikkauksen läpikäyneiden henkilöiden omakohtaisia kokemuksia ja niiden merkityksiä kotona selviytymisestä kolmen kuukauden kuluttua leikkauksesta. Suomessa tehdään vuosittain 7 500 lonkan tekonivelleikkausta ja väestön ikääntyessä leikkausten määrät tulevat lisääntymään. Fysioterapialla on keskeinen osuus lonkan tekonivelleikatun kuntoutusprosessissa. Tämän vuoksi fysioterapian vaikuttavuuden selvittäminen on perusteltua ja tutkimuksissa on tarpeellista ottaa huomioon myös lonkan tekonivelleikkauksen läpikäyneiden henkilöiden omat kokemukset.
