To efficiently lower virus infectivity and combat virus epidemics or pandemics, it is important to discover broadly acting antivirals. Here, we investigated two naturally occurring polyphenols, Epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) and Resveratrol (RES), and polyphenol-functionalized nanoparticles for their antiviral efficacy. Concentrations in the low micromolar range permanently inhibited the infectivity of high doses of enteroviruses (107 PFU/mL). Abstract The paper aims to capture a form of naturalism that can be found “built-in” in phenomenology, namely the idea to take science or mathematics on its own, without postulating extraneous normative “molds” on it. The paper offers a detailed comparison of Penelope Maddy’s naturalism about mathematics and Husserl’s approach to mathematics in Formal and Transcendental Logic (1929). It argues that Maddy’s naturalized methodology is similar to the approach in the first part of the book. The Arctic tadpole shrimp Lepidurus arcticus has a circumpolar distribution and the Scandes (Fennoscandian Mountains) marks its southernmost limit in Europe. Within this area, 391 natural and 88 regulated lakes with L. arcticus have been identified, of which 87% are above the treeline. Freshwater mussels (Unionoida) show great variability in shell morphology which can be associated with differences in habitat, sex and/or parasite infection. Three unionid mussel species, (Anodonta anatina, Unio pictorum and Unio tumidus) were collected from two sites Lake Saravesi, (Laukaa) and Lake Kuivasjarvi, (Oulu), between May - October 2012. Intraspecific trends that were associated with the mussels’ sex and/or parasites infection were studied and observations were made on how sex and parasite infection could have a role in shells morphological characters/patterns. Tutkimuksen tarkoituksena oli selvittää erityiskoulun kuntouttavia tukitoimia lapselle, jolla on kielellinen erityisvaikeus sekä pedagogisen kuntoutuksen toteutumista koulussa. Tutkimukseen haluttiin opettajien ja vanhempien käsityksiä koulun osuudesta lapsen kokonaiskuntoutuksesta, koska he ovat asiantuntijoita kouluikäisen lapsen kuntoutuksessa. Tutkimusta varten haastateltiin kahden erityiskoulun opettajia ja vanhempia (n=7) koulun kuntouttavista tukitoimista ja lasten kuntoutukselle asetetuista tavoitteista. On the transcendental undercurrents of phenomenology: the case of the living body

AbstractToday the phenomenological concept of the lived body figures centrally in several philosophical and special scientific debates. In these wide and widening fields, the concept is used with multiple different meanings. In order to clarify and delineate the debates, this paper provides an explication of the phenomenological-transcendental methods. It argues that these methods help us remove the most fundamental ambiguities of the concept of embodiment by distinguishing between the main constituents of the lived body and by illuminating their mutual relations.
