Oscillation of Second-Order Neutral Differential Equations

Author's version of an article in the journal: Funkcialaj Ekvacioj. Also available from the publisher at: http://www.math.kobe-u.ac.jp/~fe/ We study oscillatory behavior of a class of second-order neutral differential equations relating oscillation of these equations to existence of positive solutions to associated first-order functional differential inequalities. Our assumptions allow applications to differential equations with both delayed and advanced arguments, and not only. New theorems complement and improve a number of results reported in the literature. Two illustrative examples are provided.
How Do Proverbs Get Their Meanings? The Model of Interpretation Based on a Metaphor Theory.

The constellation of proverbs is quite permanent. Only one third of proverbs are supposed to change in about one hundred years (Kuusi 1994: 117−118). This means that the proverbs used in the 21st century are much the same as the proverbs in the beginning of the 20th century and quite the same as in 1850’s. In this article I focus on the proverb as a significant unit. Even if the proverbs are unchangeable, their meanings are not. Fresh-Cut Mangoes: How to Increase Shelf Life by Using Neem Oil Edible Coating

The mango is the most widely cultivated tropical fruit. Fresh-cut mango is very useful, but it is very perishable. The purpose of this study was to highlight the effects of neem oil on fresh-cut mango fruits kept for 9 days at 4 ± 1 °C and 80 ± 5% relative humidity. The neem plant (Azadirachta indica) has numerous antioxidant and antibacterial properties. Despite this, very few studies have been carried out on neem oil added to edible coatings (EC) to retard ripening processes. Endometrial decidualization is critical for pregnancy establishment and maintenance. This process promotes endometrial remodeling allowing placental cytotrophoblasts (CTBs) invasion up to an appropriate depth to form the maternal-fetal interface. A shallow CTBs invasion compromises healthy pregnancy and it is associated with the development of severe preeclampsia (sPE). Among many aspects to the question of whether democracy is exportable, this contribution focuses on the role of the people, understood not as a unitary actor but as a heterogeneous set: the citizens. The people matter, in a different way, both in the countries to which democracy might be exported and in the democratic countries in which the question is about promoting democracy elsewhere.
