Structural and electric characteristics of (Na0.5Bi0.5)0.50Ba0.50TiO3 and (Na0.5Bi0.5)0.20Ba0.80TiO3 ceramics

2003

Abstract (Na0.5Bi0.5)0.50Ba0.50TiO3 and (Na0.5Bi0.5)0.20Ba0.80TiO3 ceramics have been prepared by the solid state reaction and studied by X-ray diffraction and by measurements of dielectric and ferroelectric properties between room temperature and 550 °C. A sharp increase in the electric permittivity and dielectric loss near 212 °C (for the first material) and near 205 °C (for the second material) on heating with remarkable thermal hysteresis have been observed. This sharp increase in dielectric responses indicates transformation between normal and relaxor ferroelectric states. The X-ray diffraction study shows that this transformation corresponds to the first order phase transition from te…

Detection of morphotropic phase boundary in A-site/Ca-substituted Na0.5Bi0.5TiO3 complex oxides ferroelectric system

2020

Abstract Vibrational and structural properties of lead-free piezoelectric (1-x)Na0.5Bi0.5TiO3–xCaTiO3 (0 ≤ x ≤ 1.00) solid solutions have been investigated using Raman spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction. Different anomalies were detected and analyzed taking into consideration the phase transition from rhombohedral to orthorhombic phase at room temperature. All Raman bands were interpreted through the variation in the peak positions (frequency) and the corresponding half-widths at half maximum (HWHM) as a function of x. XRD used as a complementary technique to Raman spectroscopy, showed that the rhombohedral – orthorhombic phase transition went gradually through an intermediate phase consist…

Heterovalent ion replacement in bi7Ti4NbO21: Some new compounds and phase transitions

1996

Abstract Simultaneous heterovalent substitutions at two cationic sites of the bismuth mixed-layered compound Bi7Ti4NbO21 have been made. Two new compounds: Bi2Pb⅓Ti(4/3)Mo⅓O7 and Bi(4/3)PbTiMo⅔O7, were obtained and identified by X-ray diffraction analysis. A model of possible mixed layer structure is discussed. Ferroelectric phase transitions at 510°C and 550°C have been studied by dielectric measurements.

The Effects of 3d Admixtures on Properties of Relaxor PLZT8/65/35 Ceramics

2012

A study of the effects of the 3d dopants Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, and Cu on relaxor behavior and other properties of the ferroelectric PLZT8/65/35(La8) ceramic compound by X-ray diffraction, electron microscopy and other techniques is reported. The complex dielectric permittivity ϵ* = ϵ′-iϵ′′ is measured in the 20–400°C range of temperature at frequencies within the range of 102 – 106 Hz. Essential changes caused by the admixtures in the behavior of dielectric permittivity with frequency and temperature are observed along with changes in the XRD SEM patterns are observed. The mechanisms of the phenomena are discussed.

Modified YBCO superconductor-ferroelectric composites: Bulk materials and thick films

1996

Bulk samples and 50–125 μm thick films of (1-x)YBa2Cu3O7−δ-xBaTiO3 (0⩽x⩽0.12 by weight) composites have been synthesized, the films being obtained by Stokes sedimentation on SrTiO3 ceramic plates and firing in oxygen by Melt Textured Growth techniques. The phase composition and texture have been studied by X-ray diffraction and microstructure. Resistance and magnetic susceptibility of prepared samples have been measured.

Elastic Properties of Barium Zirconate Titanate Ceramics

2011

In the paper the influence of zirconium admixture on the structure and material constants of polycrystalline ferroelectric materials BaZrxTi1-xO3 (BZT) was examined. The barium zirconate titanate samples were prepared by a conventional solid state reaction method. A single phase with perovskite structure of the samples, was identified by an X-Ray diffraction technique at room temperature. The performed EDS study revealed that the samples were perfectly sintered and the material was chemically homogeneous. The dependence of shear modulus G on sample composition is similar to the respective dependence of Young's modulus E, whereas the Poisson's ratio ν decreases with the increase in zirconium…

Structural, microstructural and impedance spectroscopy study of functional ferroelectric ceramic materials based on barium titanate

2013

The differences between the physical properties of barium titanate BaTiO3 and newly obtained BaHfxTi1-xO3 were identified. These ceramics were prepared by solid-phase reaction from simple oxides and carbonates using the conventional method. The structure and morphology of investigated samples were characterised by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The application of impedance spectroscopy made possible to characterize of these materials in the terms of electrical properties.

Long-lived dynamic heterogeneity in a relaxor ferroelectric

1998

The polydispersive dielectric response of the relaxor ferroelectric lead magnesium niobate was investigated using nonresonant spectral hole-burning experiments. Using large alternating electric fields, specific parts of the relaxation-time distribution could be addressed selectively. This provides evidence for the dynamic heterogeneity of the dipolar reorientation process. The refilling of single as well as of double holes was much slower than the time scale set by the pump frequencies. Upon refilling, the holes exhibited no signs of spectral broadening. The present findings suggest a speedup of polarization response associated with a domain-wall depinning that is induced by the hole-burnin…

Ferroelectricity and orientational glass behavior in the [Rbx(NH4)1−x]2SO4system

1996

Abstract The ordering in the electric dipole subsystem of the [Rbx(NH4)1−x]22SO4 family is investigated. The microscopic origin of ferroelectricity for x=0 is discussed, and evidences for the existence of orientational glass behavior in highly substituted crystals are presented.
