X‐Ray Spectroscopy of the Unsteady Quiescent Corona of AD Leonis withChandra

2004

We present the analysis and interpretation of an observation of the flare star AD Leo (dM3e) with Chandra/LETG. The high resolution X-ray spectrum allowed us to infer the plasma emission measure distribution (EMD) vs. temperature, and the abundances of individual elements in the corona of this magnetically-active star, during a typical state characterized by significant variability but no large flaring event. We have also measured plasma densities at various temperatures using spectroscopic diagnostics provided by He-like triplets and Fe XXI lines. We show that the present EMD is similar to those previously obtained from EUVE spectra during quiescent and flaring states, confirming the long-…

Multi-Resolution Analysis and Fractional Quantum Hall Effect: More Results

2009

In a previous paper we have proven that any multi-resolution analysis of $L^2(\R)$ produces, for even values of the inverse filling factor and for a square lattice, a single-electron wave function of the lowest Landau level (LLL) which, together with its (magnetic) translated, gives rise to an orthonormal set in the LLL. We have also discussed the inverse construction. In this paper we simplify the procedure, clarifying the role of the kq-representation. Moreover, we extend our previous results to the more physically relevant case of a triangular lattice and to odd values of the inverse filling factor. We also comment on other possible shapes of the lattice as well as on the extension to ot…

Multi-Resolution Analysis and Fractional Quantum Hall Effect: an Equivalence Result

2001

In this paper we prove that any multi-resolution analysis of $\Lc^2(\R)$ produces, for some values of the filling factor, a single-electron wave function of the lowest Landau level (LLL) which, together with its (magnetic) translated, gives rise to an orthonormal set in the LLL. We also give the inverse construction. Moreover, we extend this procedure to the higher Landau levels and we discuss the analogies and the differences between this procedure and the one previously proposed by J.-P. Antoine and the author.

Estudo Comparativo da Infiltração Apical entre Dois Cimentos Endodônticos

2009

X-rays from accretion shocks in T Tauri stars: The case of BP Tau

2005

We present an XMM-Newton observation of the classical T Tauri star BP Tau. In the XMM-Newton RGS spectrum the O {\sc vii} triplet is clearly detected with a very weak forbidden line indicating high plasma densities and/or a high UV flux environment. At the same time concurrent UV data point to a small hot spot filling factor suggesting an accretion funnel shock as the site of the X-ray and UV emission. Together with the X-ray data on TW Hya these new observations suggest such funnels to be a general feature in classical T Tauri stars.

The effect of tiotropium/olodaterol versus fluticasone propionate/salmeterol on left ventricular filling and lung hyperinflation in patients with COPD

2020

This exploratory, randomised, double-blind, double-dummy, multicentre, cross-over study explored the effect of 6 weeks of treatment with tiotropium/olodaterol (T/O) versus fluticasone propionate/salmeterol (F/S) on left ventricular filling in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease with functional residual capacity (FRC) >120% predicted and postbronchodilator improvement of FRC ≥7.5%. Overall, 76 patients were randomised across nine sites. Treatment with T/O or F/S increased left ventricular end-diastolic volume index from baseline (adjusted mean change: T/O: 2.317 mL/m2, F/S: 2.855 mL/m2), with no statistically significant difference between treatments. However, T/O resulted…

Advances in Anodic Alumina Membranes-based fuel cell: CsH2PO4 pore-filler as proton conductor at room temperature

2009

Abstract Anodic alumina membranes (AAM) filled with cesium hydrogen phosphate proton conductor have been tested as inorganic composite electrolyte for hydrogen–oxygen thin film (≤50 μm) fuel cell (TFFC) working at low temperatures (25 °C), low humidity ( T gas  = 25 °C) and low Pt loading (1 mg cm −2 ). Single module TFFC delivering a peak power of around 15–27 mW cm −2 , with open circuit voltage (OCV) of about 0.9 V and short circuit current density in the range 80–160 mA cm −2 have been fabricated. At variance with pure solid acid electrolytes showing reproducibility problems due to the scarce mechanical resistance, the presence of porous alumina support allowed to replicate similar fuel…

In vitro istraživanje apikalnog mikropropuštanja pet tehnika punjenja kanala

2014

Aim A comparison was made between the root canal lateral condensation technique and other condensation techniques in which physical (temperature: Soft-Core®, Obtura II®) or chemical changes (condensation: Guttaflow®, Resilon®) may affect the dimensional stability of obturation and thus favor apical microleakage. Materials and methods A total of 212 single-root teeth removed for orthodontic or periodontal reasons were randomized to 5 groups of 40 teeth each. Six samples were used as positive controls, and another 6 as negative controls. The teeth were worked with the Hero 642 system, and each group was obturated using a different technique: lateral condensation, Obtura II®, Soft-Core®, Gutta…

Intraorifice sealing ability of different materials in endodontically treated teeth.

2010

Objectives To evaluate Cavit TM G, ProRoot TM MTA and Tetric® EvoFlow as intraorifice barriers to prevent coronal microleakage in root canal treatment. Study design Forty-two human single rooted teeth were divided randomly in three experimental groups of 10 specimens each and two control groups. The experimental groups were prepared with hand instrumentation and cold lateral condensed technique of the gutta-percha. Four millimetres of coronal gutta-percha were removed and replaced by one of the following filling materials: Cavit TM G, Tetric® EvoFlow or ProRoot TM MTA. In the experimental groups, leakage was measured by the concentration of leaked glucose in the apical reservoir at 1, 7, 30…

Retrograde filling material in periapical surgery: a systematic review

2021

Background Periapical surgery focuses on the treatment of teeth with persistent periapical lesions when orthograde root canal treatment fails. Although MTA® is the gold standard material for retrograde filling, Biodentine® - a tricalcium silicate-based cement - has been proposed in order to resolve several of its limitations. A systematic review has been carried out to compare the physicochemical properties of Biodentine® versus MTA® as root-end filling material in periapical surgery. Material and Methods An electronic search was conducted by two independent examiners during March 2020 in the Cochrane, PubMed-MEDLINE and Scopus databases. In addition, a manual search was made in specialized…
