Structure analysis of titanate nanorods by automated electron diffraction tomography

2011

A hitherto unknown phase of sodium titanate, NaTi3O6(OH)·2H2O, was identified as the intermediate species in the synthesis of TiO2 nanorods. This new phase, prepared as nanorods, was investigated by electron diffraction, X-ray powder diffraction, thermogravimetric analysis and high-resolution transmission electron microscopy. The structure was determined ab initio using electron diffraction data collected by the recently developed automated diffraction tomography technique. NaTi3O6(OH)·2H2O crystallizes in the monoclinic space group C2/m. Corrugated layers of corner- and edge-sharing distorted TiO6 octahedra are intercalated with Na+ and water of crystallization. The nanorods are typically …

Depth Map Generation by Image Classification

2004

This paper presents a novel and fully automatic technique to estimate depth information from a single input image. The proposed method is based on a new image classification technique able to classify digital images (also in Bayer pattern format) as indoor, outdoor with geometric elements or outdoor without geometric elements. Using the information collected in the classification step a suitable depth map is estimated. The proposed technique is fully unsupervised and is able to generate depth map from a single view of the scene, requiring low computational resources.

An Enhanced Detector of Blurred and Noisy Edges

2007

Detecting edges in digital images is a tricky operation in image processing since images may contain areas with different degrees of noise, blurring and sharpness. Such operation represents an important step of the whole process of similarity shape analysis and retrieval.

Il Filtro Integrale Auto-Regressivo Continuo (I-ARC) per l’Analisi di Strutture Esposte al Vento

2010

On product of p-sequential spaces

2016

Abstract The product of finitely many regular p-compact p-sequential spaces is p-compact p-sequential for any free ultrafilter p as it follows from [5] . In the paper is produced an example of a Hausdorff p-compact p-sequential space whose square is not p-sequential. It is also given an example of a space which is sP-radial, wP-radial, vwP-radial for any P ⊂ μ ( τ ) but its square is neither sP-radial nor wP-radial nor vwP-radial space.

A Motzkin filter in the Tamari lattice

2015

The Tamari lattice of order n can be defined on the set T n of binary trees endowed with the partial order relation induced by the well-known rotation transformation. In this paper, we restrict our attention to the subset M n of Motzkin trees. This set appears as a filter of the Tamari lattice. We prove that its diameter is 2 n - 5 and that its radius is n - 2 . Enumeration results are given for join and meet irreducible elements, minimal elements and coverings. The set M n endowed with an order relation based on a restricted rotation is then isomorphic to a ranked join-semilattice recently defined in Baril and Pallo (2014). As a consequence, we deduce an upper bound for the rotation distan…

Some geometric properties of disk algebras

2014

Abstract In this paper we study some geometrical properties of certain classes of uniform algebras, in particular the ball algebra A u ( B X ) of all uniformly continuous functions on the closed unit ball and holomorphic on the open unit ball of a complex Banach space X . We prove that A u ( B X ) has k -numerical index 1 for every k , the lushness and also the AHSP. Moreover, the disk algebra A ( D ) , and more in general any uniform algebra whose Choquet boundary has no isolated points, is proved to have the polynomial Daugavet property. Most of those properties are extended to the vector valued version A X of a uniform algebra A .

Identities of PI-Algebras Graded by a Finite Abelian Group

2011

We consider associative PI-algebras over an algebraically closed field of zero characteristic graded by a finite abelian group G. It is proved that in this case the ideal of graded identities of a G-graded finitely generated PI-algebra coincides with the ideal of graded identities of some finite dimensional G-graded algebra. This implies that the ideal of G-graded identities of any (not necessary finitely generated) G-graded PI-algebra coincides with the ideal of G-graded identities of the Grassmann envelope of a finite dimensional (G × ℤ2)-graded algebra, and is finitely generated as GT-ideal. Similar results take place for ideals of identities with automorphisms.

Multialternating graded polynomials and growth of polynomial identities

2012

Let G be a finite group and A a finite dimensional G-graded algebra over a field of characteristic zero. When A is simple as a G-graded algebra, by mean of Regev central polynomials we construct multialternating graded polynomials of arbitrarily large degree non vanishing on A. As a consequence we compute the exponential rate of growth of the sequence of graded codimensions of an arbitrary G-graded algebra satisfying an ordinary polynomial identity. In particular we show it is an integer. The result was proviously known in case G is abelian.

Introduction: Periodic Signals and Filters

2018

In this chapter we briefly outline some well-known facts about Discrete-time periodic signals, their transforms and periodic digital filters and filter banks. For details we refer to the classical textbook A. V. Oppenheim and R. W. Schafer (Discrete-Time Signal Processing, Prentice Hall, New York, 2010, [3]) and Volume I of our book (Averbuch, Neittaanmaki and Zheludev, Spline and Spline Wavelet Methods with Applications to Signal and Image Processing, Periodic Splines, vol. 1 (Springer, Berlin, 2014)) [1] Throughout the volume, unless other indicated, \(N=2^{j}, \;j\in \mathbb {N}\).
